Chinese Democracy Tour On Hold…AGAIN

posted by roberta — Oct 22nd, 2006

Via LiveDaily, comes the tale of a rock legend who wants to keep his baby, (ie: Chinese Democracy) all to himself. What’s up Axl? Is he afraid that it won’t live up to the decade-long process it took to get here? Or, even better, it won’t be in any margin of comparison to his former bandmates, Velvet Revolver. This has been a long time coming and still the fans get put off again:

Rockers Guns N’ Roses (tickets | music) have pushed back the planned launch of their “Chinese Democracy” tour.

The outing was scheduled to get underway Friday (10/20) in Jacksonville, FL, but that show has now been postponed until Oct. 31. The group’s planned Oct. 22 gig in Nashville, TN, has also been postponed, but a new date hasn’t been announced. No reason was given for the postponements.

Currently, the tour is scheduled to kick off Oct. 24 in Sunrise, FL. Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, a longtime friend of Guns N’ Roses principal Axl Rose, will play an opening set on all dates.

GNR’s only best-selling album, ever, was “Appetite for Destruction”, I doubt if they can really top that. Slash’s guitar riffs really made that group what it was, along with Mr. Rose’s snake-dancing and vocal ability. Split the two up and what do you get? Velvet Revolver VS. Guns ‘N Roses. Someone should do a mashup…

‘Til then, here’s Velvet Revolver doing a GNR classic, “It’s So Easy”:

  1. [...] Axl Rose has pushed back the release date of Chinese Democracy, again. From the folks at LiveDaily, we find that he has canceled January concerts in order to finish working on the album. I’m of the opinion that most people who are paying to see shows that are constantly being canceled, due to the band’s poor management, will probably not come out of the woodwork once the album is finally released. He is not the same Axl from the 80’s, guys. Ya know what they say….”Live and Let Die”. [...]
