Def Leppard: My little hair band

I read over at Blabbermouth that Def Leppard’s working title for their newest album is “Sparkle Lounge”.
Say what? I guess I heard that right the first time. Clearly I was expecting something along the lines of Hysteria, Pyromania, or Euphoria. If they name their new album Sparkle Lounge, I’m going to have to clown them for the rest of eternity.
Don’t get me wrong, I grew up with Def Leppard. Pyromania was one of the first tapes I ever owned (and I still have it.) If they go all crazy insane and title their new album “Sparkle Lounge”, I’m going to lose a degree of respect for them as artists.

I’m seriously debating whether or not I should go see Def Leppard with Foreigner and Styx (or someone similar) this summer. I grew up with both Hysteria and Pyromania and I can still go back and listen to both today without feeling guilty. I’m not, however, interested in “Sparkle Lounge”, or anything else. I’ll stick to Pyromania and Hysteria.

I’m always interested in hearing what they come out with, but the title “Sparkle Lounge” doesn’t grab me. They should do Megalomania or something like that. While I am indeed a bona fide fan of the band and mostly of their earlier stuff, like On Through the Night and High N Dry, their new stuff doesn’t make me turn away, either. I think they just need to Leppardize the title.

What is more important….the album title or the songs themselves?

Both, in my opinion. The importance of the songs definitely outweigh the album title, but it just sounds a little bit goofy. I’m a huge Def Leppard fan and have been for eons, but I thought they should’ve went for something cooler…..just my opinion. ;)

I don’t care for the title but, as long as the songs are good, which I’m sure they will be, I’ll get a copy. Also, I’m getting it because I’m a DL fan, I’m thrilled they’re making a new album and hope they make many more, I love ALL their albums from On Through The Night to YEAH! and I’m sure I’ll love this next one too!

Inspire me with something that will take me into the next stage of my life — def leppared was my first favorite band at 11 years old and they still are! I just prefer the first few albums. Just don’t leave me high -n-dry

I just saw Def Leppard with Styx and Foreigner in Tampa and they were all great. Def Leppard didn’t do anything from Adrenalize, but stuck to the old stuff. 5 off Hysteria, 4 off Pyromania, and 4 off High N Dry! (including Switch 625!) The only two newish songs that they did were Two Steps Behind and their Rock On cover. Other than that, it was old school! I recommend catching them on the tour if you can.

I’ll probably just call the album “Lounge”..but hey I agree the songs will vastly out weigh whatever album title they come up with and if the Sparkle Lounge inspired them to write great music then I’m down. Honestly, I tried to come up with a better title myself in the same vein as thier previous releases and couldn’t come up with anything good…so it may have been a matter of just not coming up with anything that they all thought was cool enough. we may all end up eating crow on this if they end up having several hit singles from this album LOL! And how does one Leppardize “Songs from the Sparkle Lounge” anyway? LMAO!!! Sparkalize? Loungeamania? Yeah, I didnt quite go for it either? HAHA

Regardless of the comments being left here, I do want everyone to know that I love Def Leppard’s music and have since I was 9 years old. Anything they put out, I will run out and buy asap. They rock, they will always rock!
I’ve seen them in concert for Euphoria and it was the best concert ever. Joe Elliott is hot and if any of you read this site with any regularity, you’ll see that I’ll use any ol’ excuse to show his mug :)

Hey Roberta I agree, its all about supporting the band, any way possible…and yes Joe is BEYOND hot. I saw them this past Wednesday at Clark County for the 3 rd year in a row and they ROCKED as always. they are the best band ever and they work hard to give the fans quality product. All around great guys it would seem, and eye candy to boot, cant really go wrong with that combo. LOL1

the song is an inside joke with the band. they would call backstage the “sparkle lounge” and they would write ideas for songs down when they thought of them, so the album is called “Songs from the Sparkle Lounge”
