My Chemicle Romance strikes back!
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.11, 2007, under articles
Recently, Marilyn Manson struck the first blow at My Chemicle Romance saying that they are just a poorer version of him.
The goth band caught wind of this and fired back stating that this is just a publicity stunt for Manson:
But My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way refutes the claims, insisting the band don’t take Manson’s words seriously. He says, “We still haven’t found someone that has knocked us down that we need to take seriously.

No party at Paris’ tonight!
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.08, 2007, under articles

Or any other night, for that matter. Not at least for the next 30-40 days. Paris Hilton was remanded back to the Lynwood jail to serve her full sentence.
Kim Kardashian has nerve to come out and say that Paris doesn’t deserve this. That’s a total bunch of crap. Of course she deserves it, she was drinking and driving on a suspended license. Retard.
It’s good to see that someone came to their senses and put this dummy back in jail, where she belongs. We as a people need to see that celebrities don’t get preferential treatment because of their social status.
Paris Hilton out of jail already?!??
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.07, 2007, under articles

Per TMZ, we’ve just found out that the heiress was placed in her home as a form of punishment. Couldn’t she hack jail life?
Is there no justice in this world when Paris Hilton is released on house arrest due to medical conditions?!?!?
My guess is that the trainwreck stopped eating, call it a hunch.
So much for her prison diary, eh?
Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days, where she has a 3000-4000 ft. radius of freedom. Her jail cell was 96 square feet. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have “fulfilled her debt to society.”
Ahhh, being a celebrity has its perks, yes?
Lala rocks!
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.07, 2007, under articles

Silicon Valley’s new online music service, Lala, is pretty cool. Here, you can listen to streaming music at the touch of a button. I’m listening to United Abominations by Megadeth right now. If I change my mind and decide to listen to something else, I just browse for another genre or artist. How cool is that?
You can listen to full albums, free.
What’s also cool is that you can also watch videos from the artists as there is a youtube video box at the bottom of the page. Also, if you hover over an album after a search, it will pop up a listing of the songs from that album. You can listen to the songs there, too. Just click the little play button next to the song and you’re on your way.
They are offering all of these albums free to listen to and you can buy the ones that you like.
What I don’t like is that some of the songs start off in the middle of the track. So, if you’re going to plunk down some change for an album, it’ll be best to wonder if you’re getting the whole thing. Some of the albums are complete, like Slayer’s “Reign In Blood”, but some aren’t, like Def Leppard’s “X”.
If you clicked on a band that you’d like to listen to, at the top of the screen, you are given a brief biographical history of the band (via Wikipedia). Underneath that, you’ll see all of the albums that they’ve made. Next to it are “Recommended” selections, so if you like Def Leppard, chances are you’ll like Poison or Bon Jovi.
Take a look around and you might find that you’re gonna wanna stay a while. I know this will make reviewing music a little easier.
Ozzy Osbourne in the new issue of Guitar World
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.07, 2007, under articles

Newly clean and sober, Ozzy Osbourne is preparing for a nationwide tour in support of his new album, Black Rain. The “Prince of Darkness†discusses his health, Keith Richards and beating his substance abuse issues in the latest issue of Guitar World (on stands NOW)
On his health: “I’ll tell you, it’s a weird feeling waking up and thinking you’re dead. That’s happened to me; that’s where you gotta go, Well, it’s time to stop, ‘cause the next time I wake up and think I’m dead, I’ll really be dead.â€
On Keith Richards snorting his father’s ashes: “I was knocked out when Keith Richards came out and said he snorted his father. I thought, Well, somebody’s gotta do something insane while I’m taking a break, you know? Thank God he was joking. I’ve already snorted a line of ants. I don’t need to try to top that!â€
On the toughest substance to quit: “They’re all a bitch to kick, but I’d have to say cigarettes. I used to cover my whole body with [nicotine] patches. I looked like a goddamn mummy. And I’d still smoke! Then my heart would start beating like crazy and I’d break out in sweats. But one day I just said, ‘Enough of this shit.’ And I quit, just like that.â€
Ozzy is awesome and always will be a legend. Rock on Oz!
Kat McPhee to do movies?
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.05, 2007, under articles
Say what? Yes, we heard that right. Idol’s fifth season reject, Katharine McPhee is going to be doing her feature film debut in a dark independent romantic comedy, titled, “The Last Caller”.

So, maybe just now she realized she’s not going to make it in the music business, so she had to scrounge together something to make a career out of.
Poor Kat, sucks, doesn’t it. That dumb Taylor shouldn’t have beat you out, otherwise you might’ve been more popular. But, I don’t guess that fame is treating him well, either.
If you like this, fame it!
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.04, 2007, under articles
BloggingtoFame is having a fame thing going on, so if you can appreciate the stuff that I write about, then please head on over and fame me.
I’d appreciate it and it’s free!
Marilyn Manson VS. Phil Donahue
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.04, 2007, under articles
I found this vid clip via Digg. It was just too crazy not to share. I didn’t know up until now that Manson and company (read: bandmates and parents) were on the Phil Donahue show. Is Phil still kickin’ around, I dunno.
But do check this one out. I guess in having a rock icon such as Manson on the show, Phil and the audience must have expected some punk kid to come out and have nothing intelligent to say.
Wrong!
Manson rocks. If you come to his place of business, then you should get beaten.
Amy Lee in the July Revolver Magazine
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.04, 2007, under articles
Following her band’s recent battle and line-up change, Amy Lee, lead singer of Evanescence, discusses her bandmate’s jealousy, groupies and the hottest man in rock and roll in the July issue of Revolver (on stands now).
On her bandmates jealousy: “They just want to play their instruments, and they rather I do most of the press and the work while they sleep.â€
On groupies during her tour: “At an aftershow party, a couple kept talking to us and getting closer and closer, and finally they let us know that they were swingers and they wanted to bring me back to their place. I was totally horrified.â€
On the hottest guy in rock and roll: “Chris Cornell. He’s got beautiful eyes and an amazing voice.â€

Need another reason why Paris sucks?
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.04, 2007, under articles
Apparently, Ms. Hilton copied “Kingston Town” by UB40 for her song, “Stars Are Blind”. What a ripoff. Who would’ve known that Paris would sink so low?
Just because you have tons of money doesn’t mean that you can just take other people’s stuff, without asking or providing some royalties. What an idiot. The broads in jail need to give this girl an extra smack for this nonsense.
Check out Kingston Town:
I mean, yeah she updated the reggae beat a little, but the similarities are obvious. Get ‘er UB40! Sue the pants off of her!

Prince’s purple perfume, 3121
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.03, 2007, under articles
When I received that email that said I was going to receive a free sample of Prince’s new perfume, I wasn’t expecting what I got. That was a full 1.7 Fl bottle of 3121, for my sniffing pleasure.
This fragrance smells very floral and isn’t too overbearing. It would be good to spray on for a nice night out, and doesn’t overpower the room. It reminds me somewhat of Elizabeth Taylor’s, “White Diamonds”, so I guess this would be the “purple emeralds”, then.
This perfume has a good staying power and as the scent fades, it still smells great.
I told you recently that Prince will be playing a charity event at Macy’s. The charity event will kick off at 12am on 7/7/07 when the perfume will be available for purchase Xclusively at 3121.com. The 30ml bottle of 3121 will retail for $31.21 with 7% of each sale being divided between 7 charities chosen by Prince and Revelations.
“This event promises to be huge as Prince fans worldwide will be able to participate in this Xclusive offer,” says Larry Couey. “Our goal is to raise a half million dollars for charity on 07/07/07.”
The price listing for each bottle of the purple fragrance are:
100ml EDP – $70
50ml EDP – $52
30ml EDP – $31.21
Xquisite Perfume purse spray – $52
Xotic Body Creme – $43
It is a very girlie perfume and I like it a lot! :)
Review: Type O Negative – “Dead Again”
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.02, 2007, under articles
I just received my Type O Negative CD, “Dead Again”, thanks MSO!
I’ve listened to the entire CD and can’t come out with anything really negative to speak of. I love it. Some tracks, like “September Sun”, I’ve listened to more than once. Others, not so much. I really got to hand it to the band this time, in not producing songs for the masses, but for their own careers, they’ve put out this awesome mix of fast and slow songs as well as a power ballad. After a full listen to the CD, I’d have to say that I’d like to hear more female vocals versus Peter Steele’s dark and gloomy howl. The band has definitely come a long way with this one and should be very proud that it’s not like the other “cookie-cutter” stuff out there.
Here is my track by track review:
Dead Again
A fast track with a tune about dying as a form of rebirth. It’s a tale of drug addiction and, in my opinion, his story of how they’re not role models. Don’t do what he does, is my interpretation of the meaning behind this song.
Tripping A Blind Man
This is a good song, somewhat slower than the first. It’s got a more mellow and edgy vibe. The last part of this song is my favorite, it has rockin’ guitar riffs, which is the signature sound of Type O Negative.
The Profit Of Doom
I believe this song is about the book of Revelations from the Bible. This is one of my favorite songs from the album. Peter Steele sings in this song about what sounds to me like Armageddon. It starts off with “Goodbye cruel worldâ€, are they taking a page out of Pink Floyd’s book, my guess is no. The song dictates, in my opinion, that the media is the root of all evil.
September Sun
With its piano introduction, this slow, melodic song is easily the best song on the entire CD. I like this song a lot, at the beginning, it seems very mainstream. This song really shows off Peter’s slow and smooth vocals. It gets fast pretty quickly and intertwines the mainstreaminess into the goth vibe. This should be their next single. Peter’s mesmerizing voice blends well with the entire song. He changes his voice to match the guitars, whether slow and deep, or fast and loud. This song definitely creates a certain ambience, and just when you think you’ve heard the chorus one last time, it keeps comin’. This song is over nine minutes long. It’s well worth the listen, close your eyes and hear the melancholy.
Halloween in Heaven
This song starts off a little faster than the last with a blazing riff. This song is very reminiscent of some old school Black Sabbath, at least the musicianship, not that there’s anything wrong with that. This song speaks of dead rock icons and is tinged with rockin’ female vocalist, Tara Vanflower of Lycia/LyciumMusic. That definitely lends some atmosphere to the song, as it is a very well placed interlaced part of the track. This song tells of Hendrix, Elvis, Randy Rhoades, Bon Scott, and John Lennon celebrating Halloween in heaven. I happen to like this song, unlike some people. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it.
These Three Things
This song speaks out against abortion and dictates that there’s no place in heaven for unbaptized souls. They are basically saying that abortion is the worst sin you can commit, and he is guilty as well, so he is condemned.
She Burned Me Down
This is a somewhat faster track with cool and calm lyrics of how a woman “burned him downâ€. They say in the song, “there are some things worse than death and one of them is youâ€. It slows down a tells the tale of a woman pyromaniac setting fires and speeds up with the chorus. This is not my favorite track, but it still is good, just because it’s Type O Negative, and they just rock.
Some Stupid Tomorrow
Don’t think for a minute that this is a slow song, just because of the beginning. It slows down in the middle, but briefly. I’m still trying to get what “in on it†means, but how can you know what he’s in on?
An Ode To Locksmiths
Taken from the book of Genesis, this song tells of Adam, Eve, and the apple. They state that Eve was raped and Adam forced her to taste the apple.
Hail And Farewell To Britain
I think this song is a dig on royalty and celebrities. They speak of pitying the royals/traitors/whathaveyou and how he’s done with them. This song is somewhat melodic and slow, and interlaced with treasonous undertones.
The world needs more Type O Negative.
Tesla at Best Buy pimping out “Real to Reel”
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.02, 2007, under articles
Per their myspace page, I found that the once amazingly popular eighties hair band will be playing at a Best Buy:
Real To Reel comes out on Tuesday June 5th and Tesla is going to be one busy band that day including a special in-store performance at the Phoenix Best Buy located at 2727 W. Thunderbird Rd. At 4pm, Tuesday June 5th, the band takes over Best Buy at 4pm for what promises to be a great afternoon. As if it could get any better, Best Buy will have a special limited edition copy of Real To Reel that includes a 4 song bonus disc featuring “War Pigs” from the Real To Reel sessions as well as a 3 song preview of the upcoming box set that has the band’s first-ever unplugged studio recordings of “Modern Day Cowboy,” “Paradise,” and “Shine Away” – the last recordings with guitarist Tommy Skeoch.
In addition to the Best Buy in-store, Tesla will be performing the song “Thank You” on “Good Morning Arizona (Channel 3), followed by a four-hour stint as guest DJs at KDKB-FM (93.3), where Tesla will take over the live radio airwaves from 10am to 2pm playing songs from the album, chatting with fans who call in, and giving away tickets to their concert in Phoenix on June 12 at the Dodge Theatre.
The day will conclude with a listening party at Martini Ranch sponsored by KDKB-FM, Zia Records, and Live Nation. While the event is free, fans must be 21 and over to attend. Tesla will be mixing and mingling with fans, playing songs from both “Reel 1″ and “Reel 2,” and autographing copies of the album which will be available for sale at the event courtesy of Zia Records.
So, they’re going to mingle with fans? This just means that they haven’t gotten popular enough once again to start ignoring them.
I like Tesla, so I’ll probably have a listen to new stuff.
WTF? Paula’s purpose in life is American Idol?
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.02, 2007, under articles
The “Straight Up” singer has said that she found her purpose in life, to be a judge on American Idol. So, what would happen if the show got all Sanjaya’d out and she had to look for another purpose?
Paula Abdul says she didn’t figure out her purpose in life until she became a judge on Fox network’s “American Idol.” “I knew since I was a little girl that I had this profound way of touching people. My purpose is bringing out everybody’s best and being that cheerleader to other people’s success,” the 44-year-old singer-dancer tells OK! magazine in its latest issue.
I guess her purpose was finding love on the show, or maybe staying drunk enough through the show, to be everyone’s cheerleader?
Poor Paula, still sucking after all these years.
Lily dishes the dirt on being expelled from high school

In this Rolling Stone interview, Lily Allen gets candid for the camera. She says how she was expelled from high school for “doing things with boys that she shouldn’t have”.
Find out what that was here:
Her parents were hippies. She also says that women are basically pressured to look a certain way….

Prince’s perfume, 3121
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.01, 2007, under articles
I received an update from Truth Be Told PR yesterday, stating that they are Fed Ex’ing me the sample of Prince’s new perfume, 3121, STAT.
I can’t wait to have a sniff. Hopefully it smells really nice and the people who are shucking out $250 for concert tickets and perfume, will be getting their money’s worth.
Send me perfume, send me CDs….Send me everything (but your kids). Hehe
I’ll be posting an update as soon as I receive the sample.

Maroon 5 is at the top of the music-sphere
by Roberta Ferguson on Jun.01, 2007, under articles
With their new album, “It won’t be soon before long”, Maroon 5 has managed to edge their way to the top of the music charts:
Album has been driven by hit single “Makes Me Wonder,” which made the biggest leap to No. 1 in the history of the singles chart, raising from No. 64 thanks to 243,000 downloads sold. Maroon 5 appeared on “Saturday Night Live” and “The Tonight Show” a week prior to the disc’s release and is performing in small clubs in the U.S. prior to setting up a full tour.
They also performed “Makes Me Wonder” on the American Idol finale show. I didn’t really care for that performance, it just sounded ultra-crappy. I like Maroon 5, in small doses, though. I don’t think this album is as good as “Songs About Jane”, but we’ll take it. The album performance is much better.
I would’ve really loved for the judges to give their commentary on this one.
Update: The studio version of this song kinda grows on you…like a fungus.
