Rock of Love: Meet the parents

by on Sep.16, 2007, under articles

This show had me cracking up. Seriously, VH1 has got some good writers.

The show started off with Bret treating the girls and their parents to lunch, rock clothes shopping, and then a dinner. First up were Heather and her parents. They went to eat at one of Bret’s favorite places, which just happened to have a mechanical bull. Heather rode the bull and her dad downed a beer bong. All was good.

Then, Bret picked up Jes and her parents and took them out shopping for rock and roll wear. They had a great time and it was apparent to Bret that Jes got along well with her parents.

Afterwards, Bret took Lacey and her parents to dinner. This is where the drama began. Lacey’s dad starts talking about how she has her own money and if they get married, there’s going to be a prenup. Bret’s like, hold up, who said anything about getting married?!??

The girls find out that Lacey’s parents don’t really know the person that she’s become since living with them in the house. Then Lacey starts talking smack about Heather to Bret and that set Heather off.

I was a little creeped out about Lacey’s dad and how he was looking/leering at Heather when they came back. He is a weird one.

In the end, Lacey finally got the axe!!! Woot!!!

This song is stuck in my head, and has been for the past week.

Can any of you guess from this picture I’ve snapped off the video? I’m sure someone out there knows this old school song or band?

by on Sep.16, 2007, under articles

I still dyin’ laughing over this one. Brooke Hogan is trying to show the world that her Myspace page is real, so she takes a picture of herself with a sign, just in case there were any any miscommunications:

Just a little weekend laugh for ya ;)

Ryan Gosling joins the Stop Bashing Britney bandwagon

by on Sep.15, 2007, under articles

Celeb after celeb are coming forward to defend Britney Spears in her time of need. Well, maybe not her “time of need”, but her time of depressant-taking, shoe breaking, hairstyle faking, nonsense. We have heard every excuse in the book on why her VMAs performance sucked, but everyone and their uncle is jumping on the defend Britney bandwagon.

I can understand that these people, who are also in the showbiz arena, know what it’s like to go through a flop or two in their lives. Therefore, I’m sure that they can sympathize with what she is going through. However, when performers have a terrible performance, the fans deserve an explanation. They deserve that much and until Britney comes clean, we’re going to keep making assumptions as to what happened or what’s going on in her head to screw up so badly and not defend HERSELF.

G-G-Guess who’s back!

by on Sep.15, 2007, under articles

The news of Eminem recording a new album just makes me want to listen to more of his old stuff, until the release.

Eminem is hard at work on his first studio album in three years. The Detroit MC called into New York radio station Hot 97 on Thursday during a 50 Cent interview and spoke about his own endeavors.

“I’m always working — I’m always in the studio,” he said. “It feels good right now, the energy of the label. For a while, I didn’t want to go back to the studio. … I went through some personal things. I’m coming out of those personal things (and) it feels good.”

Eminem added that he is consistently logging time in the studio with the artists on his on Shady Records roster. And though he jokingly said he’d release the new CD “tomorrow,” there is no official release date, according to Interscope.

Can’t wait for Eminem to make his anticipated comeback? Listen to 50 Cent, in the meantime, I hear that Em makes a short appearance on one of the songs. I also hear that it makes you want more Em, less Fifty.

I’m just sayin’.

50 Cent & Lil’ Kim sued

by on Sep.14, 2007, under articles

Carlos Evans, a record producer, claims that he was never paid royalties for 50 Cent and Lil’ Kim’s hit song, “Magic Stick”:

He was paid a $7,500 advance and was promised a cut of the profits, Evans says, but he hasn’t been paid and his requests for a royalty audit have been ignored.

Evans is seeking $2 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

If Fifty is laughin’ “straight to the bank”, then he should have no problem fronting the cash on this one. I’m just sayin’.

Lyrics – Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston

by on Sep.13, 2007, under articles

Lyrics to Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston:

You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal
When you say it’s over
Damn all these beautiful girls
They only wanna do you dirt
They’ll have you suicidal, suicidal
When they say it’s over

See it started at the park
Used to chill after dark
Oh when you took my heart
That’s when we fell apart
Cause we both thought
That love lasts forever (lasts forever)
They say we’re too young
To get ourselves sprung
Oh we didn’t care
We made it very clear
And they also said
That we couldn’t last together (last together)

See it’s very divine,
you’re one of a kind
But you mash up my mind
You have to get declined
Oh Lord…
My baby is driving me crazy

You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal
When you say it’s over
Damn all these beautiful girls
They only wanna do you dirt
They’ll have you suicidal, suicidal
When they say it’s over

It was back in ’99
Watchin’ movies all the time
Oh when I went away
For doin’ my first crime
And I never thought
That we was gonna see each other (see each other)
And then I came out
Mami moved me down South
Oh I’m with my girl
Who I thought was my world
It came out to be
That she wasn’t the girl for me (girl for me)

See it’s very divine,
you’re one of a kind
But you mash up my mind
You have to get declined
Oh Lord…
My baby is driving me crazy

You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal
When you say it’s over
Damn all these beautiful girls
They only wanna do you dirt
They’ll have you suicidal, suicidal
When they say it’s over

Now we’re fussin’
And now we’re fightin’
Please tell me why
I’m feelin’ slighted
And I don’t know
How to make it better (make it better)
You’re datin’ other guys
You’re tellin’ me lies
Oh I can’t believe
What I’m seein’ with my eyes
I’m losin’ my mind
And I don’t think it’s clever (think it’s clever)

You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal, suicidal…

Sean Kingston going back to his roots with Beautiful Girls

by on Sep.12, 2007, under articles

In the song, “Beautiful Girls” by Sean Kingston, we can hear the old school vibe that he has intermingled in.

With the “Stand by me” vibe going on, Sean Kingston sounds like he is straight out of the 1960′s with a mix of new fresh sound.

I love it. Even though he wasn’t picked to play Biggie, I still like his performance here, on the Jimmy Kimmel show:

Where’s the barbershop quartet? He sounds cool and fresh, like the older sounds of that era. Sweet. Something new!

Simon says Britney wasn’t ready…duh

by on Sep.12, 2007, under articles

Simon Cowell recanted the obvious by stating that he didn’t feel that Britney Spears was ready for her 2007 Video Music Awards performance, Sunday. Tell us something that we didn’t know!

He said:

“It would have been worth pulling her off the bill – no matter what the cost – to save any chance she had of resurrecting her career. She wasn’t ready for that show in every possible way.”

I think MTV knew what they were doing in putting her on stage as the opening act. They knew that she was a trainwreck waiting to happen and that she’d bumble on stage. She hasn’t performed in years.

MTV has jumped the shark.

I’d snub MTV, too

by on Sep.12, 2007, under articles

It’s not like MTV really plays any music anymore. It’s the crap reality shows that they’ve been playing that has been pushing me to watch VH1 Classic. Thus, I feel old. The songs that were played in my day are now classics….hmmm…

MTV has really moved away from where they started. In the beginning, it was all about the music. The videos and the commentary were awesome and well detailed. The interviews were also great.

Having not watched MTV for years, and then watching John Norris at the Pre-VMAs show, I had to wonder, WTF happened to him? He looks like he resorted back to the 80′s with Duran Duran flair. The guyliner and the blonde hair?!??!!

Where have I been all these years while this transformation was happening?

I guess the right answer would be not watching MTV.

Kanye West snubbed MTV:

Rap star Kanye West has vowed never to return to the MTV Awards ever again after not receiving a single gong or being allowed to perform on stage. The ego fuelled hip hop star was reported as saying: “Give a black man a chance” after watching a stream of other music stars file onto the stage to win awards.

I’m snubbing them, too, but for different reasons.

Fergie says to leave Britney alone, too

by on Sep.12, 2007, under articles

In addition to the Britney wackjob, Fergie has lashed out at us to
leave Britney Spears alone.

She says, “They’re young. Leave them alone. If they want to get better, they’re going to get better on their own. If somebody is going to change, they have to want to do it themselves.

I would leave her alone, but I think she likes the attention too much. The girl needs to humble herself a little. I know she’s rich and everything, but that doesn’t mean that she should show her goodies to whoever is around with a camera.

Like I’ve said before, if Britney would’ve acted like she was having a good time up there on stage, instead of lazily performing her new hit single, then the headlines would’ve been a lot different. We would’ve been seeing headlines like, “Britney is back!” or “Britney Spears gives us more”.

Kanye West’s “Graduation” beat out “Curtis”

by on Sep.11, 2007, under articles

Kanye West and 50 Cent have released their new musical offerings today, in the form of “Graduation” and “Curtis”. Fans of hip hop are all but tired of the gun-toting and women-bashing music that rap today has become. Not saying that Graduation is any sort of masterpiece, because it isn’t.

50 Cent’s violent lyrical content may have already jumped the shark, according to fans:

As much as I try to stay open-minded to different kinds of music, I will never understand — nor do I wish to understand — the appeal of rhymes that glorify gun violence, perpetuate racist stereotypes, and discuss women as nothing more than sex objects.

There are clearly millions of people who buy into 50 Cent’s version of cool, but I am not one of them.

Maybe if the beats were stronger, or the rhymes were more clever, or the songs didn’t all sound the same I would be more generous. But 50 Cent sounds like nothing more than an uninspired brain-fried gangsta whose time in the music business is well past its due date.

Is either album phenomenal? No. I believe that the fans are speaking loud and clear. Down with the violent music and we’re ready for musical empowerment via Graduation.

On a personal note, I do not like Kanye West’s music. He comes across as arrogant. I’d much rather fire up an old 50 Cent tune as opposed to listen to Graduation.

Myspace Music Review: Atreyu

by on Sep.10, 2007, under articles

Atreyu are scheduled to be at the Cleveland House of Blues on September 16th, with material from their new album, “Lead Sails Paper Anchor”.

You can have a listen at their myspace page or you can wait for them to come to your town.

“Doomsday” is a rockingly fast track with heavy guitar riffs and that vocal sound that we have come to know and love. A little slower is “Honor”, which starts out kind of like a rap, with the singer shouting a bit, before the chorus hits. This song is my favorite.

I wasn’t really feeling “Falling Down” until the chorus came on. It’s kind of slow and has edgy melodic riffs. This song reminds me of some late 70′s British rock. “Becoming the Bull” is another song that I wasn’t too fond of. It’s okay, but it’s not my cup of tea. I’d much rather listen to “Lip Gloss & Black”.

Kanye rants again like a whiney baby

by on Sep.09, 2007, under articles

Kanye West was nominated for five MTV awards and didn’t walk away with any of them.

First, he was peeved that Britney Spears was allowed to make an idiot out of herself for the opener. Now, he’s hatin’ on MTV because he didn’t win any awards.

Here’s what went down:

West, waiting for an elevator in a crowded hallway, began yelling about losing all five categories for which he was nominated.

“That’s two years in a row, man … give a black man a chance,” West said, stomping around his entourage and directing his comments at a reporter. “I’m trying hard man, I have the … number one record, man.”

West said he never will return to MTV.

Good riddance! Wahhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The Rock of Love: Vegas, Baby!

by on Sep.09, 2007, under articles

This show literally cracks me up.

At the start of the show, we see Bret Michaels on stage, performing some old and new songs, including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. The fab four are dancing around like crazed fans, having a good time.

Bret says that he has to go get ready for dinner and the girls stay behind with the band guys to hang out and drink. Brandy and Lacey get totally smashed in that fifteen minutes and make idiots out of themselves. Lacey got carried to her hotel room, while the remaining three were left to entertain Bret.

Heather is munching away, then all eyes are focused on Brandy, who spews at the dinner table. She’s assisted by Jes, and then is escorted back to her room. Afterwards, Bret says that he wants to spend time with Jes, as she was playing good samaritan with the drunk girls.

They do the nasty and voom–she’s on a plane back to L.A.

Bret then says he wants to have dinner with Heather and Lacey. They talk for a bit, then Bret decides he wants to do the nasty with Lacey, and sends Heather on her way. She was miffed.

In the morning, Brandy tells the other girls that she doesn’t feel that she’s the right one for Bret, after previously telling him that she loves him.

That sealed in her fate. Bret said goodbye and then there were three.

The poor girl can’t even lip sync the right way anymore. I feel for her, she seemed so unprepared for this.
