Dave Grohl has Cobain dreams

by roberta on Oct.31, 2007, under articles

Dave Grohl has been dreaming lately of the late frontman to Nirvana, Kurt Cobain.

Grohl, who drummed in Nirvana but now fronts Foo Fighters, has regular nighttime visions of Cobain hiding from him. He says, “I still dream about Kurt. Every time I see him in a dream, I’ll be amazed and I get this feeling that everyone else thinks he’s dead. “It always feels totally real, probably because I’m a very vivid dreamer. But, in my dreams, Kurt’s usually been hiding – we’ll get together and I’ll end up asking him, ‘God, where have you been?’”

It’s Kurt trying to tell Dave that Courtney is killing his soul.

Britney Spears in new cocaine controversy

by roberta on Oct.31, 2007, under articles

Britney Spears has been caught up in a new controversy surrounding her use of cocaine at a wild party recently:

Scott Kohler, 29, claims he and a group of 10 other strangers were invited to join Spears for a night of heavy partying on October 19th, when the troubled star drowned her sorrows with vodka and cavorted with the men in her jacuzzi. And musician Kohler alleges the 25-year-old singer accepted an offer of cocaine from a fellow partygoer, after he “joked he wanted to do a line off (Spears’) chest, and she agreed”, reports British newspaper The Sun. Kohler adds, “(Spears) was in a great mood. She didn’t have a care in the world.”

Gwen Stefani is a saint

by roberta on Oct.30, 2007, under articles

Gwen Stefani has declared that she will be helping the victims of the California wildfires by donating the proceeds from tonight’s concert:

The Sweet Escape hitmaker will give all proceeds from her gig in San Diego on Tuesday night (30Oct07) to those suffering in the aftermath of the fires which swept the state last week (ends26Oct07). And Stefani admits she almost cancelled her show after hearing thousands of residents had been evacuated. She says, “When I heard about the devastation of the fires, at first I felt I should cancel my show out of respect, but then it occurred to me there might be a more useful solution.”

Gwen is a saint and more stars need to come out and help these victims and their families.

Bon Jovi cites family importance over selling out concerts

by roberta on Oct.30, 2007, under articles

Finally a rocker whose got his head on right! Go Bon Jovi!

JON BON JOVI has been rocking for so long, he no longer cares if his group sells out stadiums and arenas when they tour. The family man insists the welfare of his kids and issues at home are far more important to him than rock success. He tells America’s Best Life magazine, “I don’t give a f**k that I just sold out 10 nights at the arena. It’s just what I do. It’s just a job – and I get paid well for it. “I get to wear a T-shirt and dirty jeans, but I don’t really give a f**k about the rest of it, because it’s a shallow pool, man.”

Blackout released, any takers…anyone? Are you still there?

by roberta on Oct.30, 2007, under articles

Blackout was released last night at midnight, so I’ve got to wonder if there are any fans left to buy this nonsense?

According to reports (and common sense), Britney’s package was never all about the music, primarily because it was just plain not that good. The image sold Britney, the schoolgirl outfit and the dance moves sold her albums.

After all, music was never really the strongest part of the Britney Spears package in the first place. She was more about, well, packaging – the look, the videos, the personal life, everything that surrounded the music.

So now, in the midst of all of her personal turmoil – the custody battle, the substance abuse allegations, the wobbly public performances – did anyone really expect “Blackout” to be some sort of artistic leap forward? Of course not.

I think anyone could be a Britney with the right people behind them.

10 Rockin’ albums for the island dweller in me…and you

by roberta on Oct.29, 2007, under Uncategorized

It took me a rather long time to compile this list. Primarily because I had to think about ten albums that I could listen to, over and over again, and love every song. We here at the b5media music channel, pride ourselves on being stranded with the best music around.

1. Megadeth – So far…So good…So What!
Yes, Dave Mustaine, there is no one like him. It was a toss up between this or Holy Wars.

2. Metallica – Master of Puppets
Before Metallica sold out and started sucking.

3. Def Leppard – Pyromania
Once a fan, always a fan. I still remember Joe Elliott in those union jack t-shirts.

4. Guns N Roses – Appetite For Destruction
All of the songs on this one absolutely rock.

5. Matchbox Twenty – Mad Season
This is for when ya feel groovy. Rob Thomas has the voice of an angel and he’s hot. Can’t ask for more than that.

6. Slayer – Reign In Blood
Everyone gets mad once in a while, put this on, it will cure what ails you. (or make you madder..hehe)

7. Cradle of Filth – Nymphetamine
Nymphetamine has to be the best video ever. And I do mean ever. If you haven’t seen it. Go now, I’ll wait.

8. Eminem – The Slim Shady LP
Everyone needs a little bit of Shady in their lives. Listen to Mushrooms, it’s awesome.

9. Journey – Greatest Hits
You can’t tell me that Steve Perry doesn’t have an awesome voice. I wouldn’t believe it. Not for a minute.

10. Bruce Dickinson – Tattooed Millionaire
Love me some Bruce, his unique voice is the power behind Iron Maiden. Love it, love it.

James Mcavoy to play Kurt Cobain?

by roberta on Oct.27, 2007, under articles

Really? I don’t see it. From my understanding, they are tapping James Mcavoy to play Kurt Cobain in a new movie about his life, executive produced by Courtney Love.

They should really get an unknown or someone that actually looks like Kurt to play him. Courtney is bleeding the Nirvana legacy dry, isn’t she?

Meme: It’s about ME ME LOL

by roberta on Oct.25, 2007, under Uncategorized

I was tagged by Jennifer at TreeHuggingFamily recently to tell you guys 7 Random Things About Me That You Might Not Know. Hope I don’t screw this up :)

1. I hate my day job. It really, really, really sucks. In case you were wondering what I do. Wonder no more. Did I mention it sucks?

2. I listen to wayyyy too much 80’s music. It’s unhealthy. I make CDs that have Culture Club on them, along with Def Leppard, Poison, 2 Live Crue, and Run DMC. I’m a weirdo and I can’t help myself.

3. I have ADD & the attention span of a peanut. It’s unfortunate, but true. What were we talking about again?!?

4. I don’t like coats. Even when it gets all yucky and snowy out. I’d rather wear a jacket or a heavy sweater. It’s all about layers.

5. I’m a spelling/grammar nazi. I can’t overlook spelling and grammar errors. It’s weird. And I hated English class in school.

6. I’m competitive. Okay, maybe you knew that already. I can’t walk away from a good contest or something.

7. I have two sons, who are twelve and eight. They rock. My youngest son, Justin, wants to be a rock star. Jeffrey, 12, wants to be a lawyer. Go figure. They’re truly little pieces of me.

That’s my two cents. Now I get the luxury of tagging seven other unsuspecting victims friends:

  • Dave at Brit Music Scene (because he rocks all the way from the UK)
  • Scott at Metal Martyr (just because Metal rocks!)
  • Mike at Big Apple Music Scene (because I can…neh neh)
  • Ingrid at Greys Anatomy News (I’m addicted)
  • And I can’t think of three more…..I just have no imagination.

Marilyn Manson’s girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood, is looking to sign at the same label, Interscope Records per HollywoodInsider:

Across_l Sources say actress Evan Rachel Wood, best known for her dramatic performances on film (Thirteen, The Upside of Anger), television (Once and Again), and as Marilyn Manson’s girlfriend (see her starring role in his steamy, slightly NSFW “Heart-Shaped Glasses” video), is close to signing a recording contract with Interscope Records, which happens to be Manson’s label. The deal is “still in negotiations,” says an insider. Look for an announcement in the coming weeks.

Tom Cruise called Posh for tickets, got denied

by roberta on Oct.25, 2007, under articles

Tom Cruise tried to pull the celebrity card with Victoria Beckham, asking if he could be put on the guest list for Spice Girls tickets. He was rebuffed by the “star”:

The Hollywood actor was so desperate to go to the girl band’s reunion concert he called Beckham to ask to be put on the guest list – but the singer refused. He says, “You know what, I phoned Victoria but she said, ‘I’m sorry we’re sold out.’”

Falling Down video is banned in the U.K.

by roberta on Oct.25, 2007, under articles

Duran Duran’s collaboration with Justin Timberlake, Falling Down, was banned in the U.K. due to it being too explicit for television.

The video for Falling Down – which Timberlake co-wrote and produced – makes fun of the celebrity culture in rehab. But the promo was criticised by TV censors for showing controversial scenes of semi-naked models in distress.

    Here’s the video:

Now, from the first scene in the movie, check this out:

Since Justin Timberlake had something to do with this video, ya know he had to throw in a Britney reference, right?

Slash says Chinese Democracy will be released when Axl is ready

by roberta on Oct.25, 2007, under articles

Slash has gone on record to say that Axl Rose will release the long, longggggg awaited album, Chinese Democracy, when he’s ready. Haven’t fans of Guns N Roses waited long enough? The album has been ten years in the making already.

Apparently the singer “works in a different time zone”, as Slash explained: “It’ll get done, and it’ll come out when he feels comfortable with putting it out”. “And Axl works in a different time zone than I do. So what may seem like a long time to other people is a tick of the clock to him.”

And he’s blaming it on Axl being in a different time zone?!?! Wha?
