Oink closed down after two year investigation
Illegal file sharing and music download website, Oink, was shut down by Dutch and British officials recently:
Around 180,000 people were members of http://www.oink.cd, the world’s biggest source of pirated pre-release chart albums, which leaked more than 60 major albums onto the internet so far this year, according to police.
advertisementUsers, who were only admitted to the private website if they could prove they had music to offer, retained membership by continuously posting tracks.
That’s a heck of a lot of theft going around. I guess they must be concerned that much more about people getting the pre-releases and doing mashups.
