Are we boycotting Converse for the Kurt Cobain line of shoes?

posted by roberta — Mar 20th, 2008

Probably.

Courtney Love is looking to cash in again….and she’s still using Kurt Cobain as a brand. It’s a shame, because this really goes against the corporate nonsense that he really stood against. First it was lunchboxes, flasks, and Doc Martens in the sky, now, it’s Converse.

What’s next?

Converse has made the shoes with Cobain’s signature on them and they’re using diary entries from the late singer as part of the “tribute”.

Fans see this for what it really is, Courtney needs the cash.

  1. I’ll admit to having a Converse problem. They’re my favorite brand of sneakers. I’ve also worshiped Nirvana since I was 13. That being said, this is disgusting. Courtney Love is disgusting! The whole thing makes me ill.

  4. I can’t believe this! Kurt Cobain would have never put his name on a product for money. Courtney just wants to milk the cash cow until it sucked dry. Krist and Dave should have a say in this.

  5. P.S. It’s ok to have endorsements on products that have to do with Music, but not footwear

  6. All she’s done since he died (which she is responsible for)is fvind some way to exploit him and make money off of him. It should have been Courtney, not Kurt.

  8. I enjoyed the music of Nirvana and Mr. Cobain through my kids and don’t consider myself to be a prude in any way. Having said that, and this may be harsh, I believe that Courtney Love is the skankiest of skanks for what she is doing. She had better hope that her dreams (if she dreams at all in her obviously constant drug-induced state) don’t include a visit from Kurt, who I envision bitch-slapping her into the afterlife. And I don’t really think she wants to go there, since I don’t imagine her meeting up with him again in the place SHE would end up. But, hey, she’s welcome to try anyway. lol.

  9. Courtney Love is the queen of skanks. She has already cashed in on Kurt’s wonderful career over 10 times what her miserable career was worth. The highlight of her career was being with Kurt as we see how far Hole got as a band. She is pathetic for everything she does especially since she is directly responsible for the death of Kurt.Kurt was not the type of person to want to rip people off with a item with his name on it, he never tried to capalize on his success. She will what she deserves when the drug induced life she lives finally ends.

  10. I Loved Nirvana, and Kurt Cobain. I own cd’s. I have 2 t-shirts that were bought before Kurt died. They did have band merch. And still places like “hot topic” you can buy overpriced “special” box sets and T’s and all sorts of stickers, pins, ect. The Dr. Martin ad: bad idea, it was just going to use his face to sell the boots. Converse is actually printing his image on the shoes, so in essence it’s like wearing a T. I could only imagine a fan wanting to wear these shoes. Let his face live on. Who knows, some small kid may ask “who is on your shoes?”, and may learn of a very talented musician. It’s unfortunate that Courtney will be reaping the profits. Let’s hope the majority goes to Frances Bean.
