Boy George cancels concert due to poor ticket sales
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.13, 2008, under articles

Boy George has had to cancel a show in his comeback tour, after concertgoers only purchased 89 tickets. He was set to perform onstage at a concert hall that holds 2,200. He is currently doing his The Boy is Back In Town tour in the U.K. But I guess they’re not feeling the 80′s like we were at one time.
I’d go see Boy George, but I was a big Culture Club fan back in the day. I’d probably be the only one there, though.
Would you go see him perform? How about if he did all of his Culture Club hits. I know you’re singing along with Karma Chameleon anytime you hear it. Are you with me? No? I figured not.
Bon Jovi is being sued for $400 billion for plagiarism!

Rockers Bon Jovi are being sued for an astronomical $400 billion after musician Samuel Bartley Steele claimed the band plagiarized his work. He filed the case on Thursday, which alleges the group copied lyrics from his song, (Man I Really) Love This Team, which was used for the anthem for the Boston Red Sox.
Steele says that Jon Bon Jovi heard his song when he was campaigning for John Kerry in 2004, and thus created Bon Jovi’s song I Love This Town, which was used as a promo for Major League Baseball.
Without hearing either track, I really can’t base a decision on whether or not Bon Jovi ripped this guy off. After searching Youtube for any song by Steele, I came up empty. He’s seeking $100,000 per CD sold, of which four million CDs were sold to date.
What do you think? When I saw the figure, I thought the guy wanted Bon Jovi to foot the bill for the bailout.

Here’s the just released video for If I Were A Boy. This song is definitely a lot slower than what we’re used to with Bey. What do you think? Do you like her new singing style?

Def Leppard didn’t get the memo about the Stanley Cup
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.10, 2008, under articles
There’s a big “epic fail” fuss over the way that Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott handled the Stanley Cup at the launch of the new hockey season last night. Oh noes! I guess the world is going to end now, isn’t it?
When the cup was brought out, Joe picked it up and placed it on the podium upside down. Yes, that was the flub.
Of the incident, Joe says, “We’re soccer boys, what do we know?”
It’s all good Joe, your music still rocks.
Madonna isn’t a very nice person, even to her peers
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.10, 2008, under articles

Madonna is a diva, no matter who you ask. She recently invited Swedish pop singer Robyn to open for her on her Sticky & Sweet tour, to which Robyn was psyched.
What didn’t psych Robyn so much was the rules that came along with her being allowed to share the stage with Madonna. She was told not to approach Madonna, not to speak to Madonna, and above all, no pictures. She says, “I hadn’t expected any glamour, but it’s strange that they assume that the first thing you’re gonna do is run after Madonna and ask for an autograph. My worst nightmare would be to turn into Madonna. Madonna is constantly chasing the latest trends.”
That’s insane of Madonna’s people to think that even another singer would fawn all over her like a crazed fan.

Weird Al’s parody of T.I.’s Whatever You Like
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.09, 2008, under articles
Weird Al is the king of parodies, there’s no question about that. This is my new favorite from him. Here, he’s parodying T.I.’s song Whatever You Like.
Of recording the song, Al spoke via his MySpace blog:
“My new single -– which is being released on iTunes tomorrow -– is a parody of T.I.’s smash hit “Whatever You Like.†The T.I. song has been number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 5 weeks now – and this will in fact mark the first time in my career that I’ve been able to release a parody while the original song was still number 1.
Big thanks go out to T.I and his manager for their support – not only was he nice enough to give me his permission and blessing for this parody, but he responded so quickly that I was able to make everything happen insanely fast. In less than a two week period – seriously – I was able to come up with an idea for the song, get legal permission for the song, write the song, record the song, mix the song, master the song, upload the song to my label and deliver the song to iTunes. Talk about instant gratification!â€
I love it when stuff like this comes together so quickly. It’s great.
You down with O.P.P.? Naughty By Nature are reuniting!
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.09, 2008, under articles

Naughty By Nature are getting back together to record a new album, which is set for release in the beginning of next year. How cool is that! The group last performed together in 2006 at B.B. King’s in New York (pictured above).
DJ Kay Gee says, “We’ve been talking about reuniting for about two years. Then about three months ago, we decided to go ahead.”
The new album is set to be titled, Anthem Inc.
Kay Gee tells us what we can expect from the band upon the release of its newest album:
“We’re going to make universal party tracks with great hooks; street anthems, social and political anthems, anthems for the ladies. Nothing has changed from that standpoint. But we’re not 19-20 anymore, so things will be a little different lyrically. We don’t want to make a record that sounds like we’re just trying to chase 15-year-olds. We do want to appeal to them but at the same time, we want the music to be natural and comfortable for us.”
Zac Efron attacked by 40-year-old man in London!
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.09, 2008, under articles

High School Musical star Zac Efron was attacked by an older man as he left the West End production of Rain Man with his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens.
The couple were making their way through the crowd of fans, when an older man pushed through his security team and tried to grab his hair.
Maybe he just wanted to sell it on eBay? You know, times are hard.
A source on the scene says, “Some guy was just stood near the door where Zac and Vanessa emerged. He just reached over and grabbed the side of Zac’s head. There was no provocation. It all turned into a bit of a mess. He was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him.”
Crazy!
Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters to John McCain: Stop using our music!
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.09, 2008, under articles

[Image Credit: Nicola T via Flickr]
This isn’t the first time that John McCain’s camp have used campaign songs that were unauthorized by the makers. Heart didn’t want the McCain campaign using “Barracuda” and the Foo Fighters sure don’t want him using their hit, “My Hero”, either.
The AP reports that the Foo Fighters have requested that McCain stop using their song. The band says, “The saddest thing about this is that ‘My Hero’ was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song.”

Britney Spears involved in another fender bender
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.09, 2008, under articles

Britney Spears was involved in another fender bender yesterday, as her bodyguard was driving her to a vintage clothes store. He was the one driving when one paparazzo cut her off and another slammed into her white Escalade.
A store clerk who saw everything said, “At aproximately 2pm, Britney was being driven in a white Escalade, when the paparazzi cut her off and one slammed into the back of her car. She didn’t seem upset by the accident at all. She wasn’t driving anyway and it wasn’t bad, it was just a fender bender.”
Good thing for her that she wasn’t driving, she has enough on her plate dealing with her driving without a license case. I think the paparazzi are doing dangerous stunts just to get involved with her legally, so they can get some cash. Think they were in it together? I think one of them called the other one and said ‘Cut her off and she’ll slam on her breaks, and I’ll hit her.” What do you think?
Beyonce: If I Were A Boy – Audio & Lyrics
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.08, 2008, under articles
Lyrics – If I Were A Boy by Beyonce:
If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wanted
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me.
[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
If I were a boy
I could turn off my phone
Tell everyone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleepin alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waitin for me to come home (to come home)
(Chorus)
Its a little too late for you to come back
Say it’s just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong
(Chorus)
But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
Yeah you don’t understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you’ve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you’re just a boy

Amy Winehouse’s manager says she’s doing fine
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.08, 2008, under articles

[Image Credit: Mr. Mystery via Flickr]
It was rumored earlier this week that Amy Winehouse was on suicide watch and that her friends were fearing for the worst after her husband Blake turned down an early release deal.
That’s not true, so says her mouthpiece. The spokesperson said that she’s hard at work on new projects and has said, “She’s fine.”
I hope that’s true, she does have some talent and it would be a shame for that to go to waste.
Avril Lavigne honored in China for her charity work
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.08, 2008, under articles

[Image Credit: Scott St. John via Flickr]
I can’t say that I’m a big fan of Avril Lavigne, well I could, but it would be a gigantor lie. She has done something good, though. She was honored in China on Monday for helping to raise funds for poor families there. She was honored by the China Association of Social Workers, who gave her a Certificate of Honor for her efforts.
During her Best Damn Tour, she took time out to visit kids in the Sichuan province, which was torn apart by earthquakes earlier this year.
File this under celebrities doing good deeds, it doesn’t happen that often, so we have to recognize it when it does.
Gibson recreates Slash’s stolen guitar
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.08, 2008, under articles

[Image Credit: I Do Shows via Flickr]
Slash’s signature Les Paul Goldtop guitar was stolen when thieves raided his studio. Now, he’s asked the fine people at Gibson to recreate the guitar so that he can achieve the sound he made on Guns N’ Roses hits Sweet Child O’ Mine and November Rain.
He says, “I asked Gibson to make me a reissue of the 1991 Les Paul Goldtop that I had been using on tour for Sweet Child O’ Mine, November Rain and Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door. This was probably the best guitar that I ever heard for playing those kinds of solos. In 1998, I had my studio ripped off and all my guitars were stolen. Slowly but surely I got them all back, but the one I didn’t get back was that particular Goldtop.”
They’ve made him the guitar and he has said that he’s very impressed with the sound. I’m sure he’d love it even more to get back the first incarnation of that guitar, though. Somebody out there still has it.
Britney Spears’ drivers license trial to go on
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.08, 2008, under articles

Britney Spears’ court case for driving without a valid license, is set to go ahead. Despite her lawyer saying that Britney is not able to participate in her own defense due to her dad’s conservatorship, the judge decided that the case will go on as planned.
Her lawyer has also tried to throw money at the case to make it go away, insisting that she should only have to pay a fine to end the case. I agree that it would be a fair thing to do, since she has since gotten her license, but some small part of me thinks they want to make an example out of her.
A ruling released yesterday stated that the case will continue as scheduled and a pretrial hearing has been set for today.
Eddie Van Halen has gotten engaged!

Eddie Van Halen is officially off of the market, ladies! Like all of us were jumping to get aboard that train….right?
Eddie proposed to his girlfriend Janie Liszewski while the two were vacationing in Hawaii on August 4th. He dropped to one knee and popped the question in a private room at Tiffany’s. Awww…how cute!
They’re planning to get married next June.
A source close to Eddie says, “They are happy, healthy, very much in love and looking forward to living life together forever. They are devoted to each other and to experiencing life in a whole new, positive and passionate way.”

Pete Doherty was invaded by fans on stage
by Roberta Ferguson on Oct.03, 2008, under articles

Pete Doherty was on stage at a recent London gig, when he was swamped by fans who invaded the stage. He was playing a solo show at the Hackney Empire last night, when fans climbed over the barriers and got on stage with him.
Security guards were at the venue to save the day.
A source says, “People were literally being thrown off the stage. During the finale, one by one, they tried to jump on from all angles. Security were having a pretty hard time keeping them away from Pete, especially the girls. At one point two brunettes ran on and latched onto Pete until security, at least four of them, had to prise them apart.”
Crazy! The only thing I’d be rushing Pete Doherty for would be with a bar of soap and a washcloth. Just sayin’.
Diddy says Sarah Palin scares him

Diddy does a new video blog on the Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. While I agree that it’s scary that she could be our President, Diddy takes it to a whole new level. It looks like he’s hiding under a blanket.
New Music: Video – Radiohead – Reckoner

This is a very interesting video for Reckoner by Radiohead. It was made by Clement Picon for the Aniboom contest for the song.
I do have to say that I’m not a big fan of the song, but the video looks cool.
What do you think? Are you a Radiohead fan?

This is no ‘I Kissed A Girl’, that’s for sure. I found Hot ‘N Cold okay as a song, and the video doesn’t add much more to it.
Overall, I’m not impressed, are you?
