Britney Spears does X Factor

by roberta on Nov.29, 2008, under articles

Britney Spears performed on the X Factor today in Britain. She is making me get sick of hearing Womanizer, but with every performance, there is improvement.

Britney is definitely on her way to a comeback.

Britney Spears performs Womanizer at the Star Academy in France

by roberta on Nov.28, 2008, under articles

Britney Spears performed Womanizer at the Star Academy in France today. She did a lot better than her performance from last night’s Bambi Awards. She’s also wearing something that looks a little less inspired by Madonna.

Is she getting more comeback ready?

Macy’s gets Rickrolled by Rick Astley himself

by roberta on Nov.28, 2008, under articles

Rick Astley rickrolled the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday, personally. He was there to perform his 80’s hit, Never Gonna Give You Up while on the Cartoon Network float.

Seriously, does this guy ever age? Sure, he’s lip-syncing, but he looks alright for 42. Too funny.

Britney Spears performing Womanizer at the 2008 Bambi Awards in Germany

by roberta on Nov.28, 2008, under articles

Britney Spears performed her song, Womanizer, from her upcoming album Circus, at the 2008 Bambi Awards in Germany. This is the beginning of her comeback and I’m impressed as far as her performance is concerned, considering she did this a little too early.

Britney sported a Madonna-like outfit and moved a little slow compared to previous performances. It was definitely much better than her 2008 Video Music Awards performance, where she was literally moving like the dead/drugged up.

This was just too funny not to share. Willie Nelson played one of the wisemen on Stephen Colbert’s Christmas Special, which aired on the same day as the release of Chinese Democracy.

Enjoy!

It was rumored that Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse had a little bit of a falling out over the Bond theme. Mark wants to quash the rumors and says that just the opposite is true. He says that he just hasn’t been able to catch up with Amy because he’s spending so much time in the U.S.

He says, “I haven’t been in England in a while. I always go and see her when I’m there and I saw her about six weeks ago but I haven’t spoken to her in a little while.”

So, don’t believe the hype! Mark Ronson is still Crackie friendly. He’s just been busy.

by roberta on Nov.26, 2008, under articles

This is another song like Britney Spears’ Womanizer that seems to be growing on me like a fungus. I am a fan of Pink’s music and this video and song is really good. This is her second single from her fifth album, Funhouse.

The escort “wanted to be cuffed” by Boy George

Boy George leaving court

Boy George was arrested last year due to luring an escort to his bedroom and cuffing him to a hook on the wall and beating him with a metal chain.

The escort, Audun Carlsen, firstly claimed that he is not an escort and that he was paid by the singer to pose for photographs. Lawyers for Boy George said that he was a willing participant in the cuffing and beating.

His attorney said to the escort, “During this photoshoot you yourself took handcuffs and asked to put them on.” To which the escort said was “rubbish” and said that he wouldn’t allow himself to be cuffed.

I’m still in shock that Boy George like S&M.

Kanye West’s cousin involved in an investigation regarding Donda West’s death

Kanye West’s cousin, Stephan Scoggins, is at the center of an investigation with regard to the death of Dr. Donda West last year. Apparently, the doctor who operated on her, Dr. Jan Adams, said that there is no set regimen upon leaving the hospital. But, Scoggins was left in charge, as a nurse, to take care of her post-op.

It’s being said now that Scoggins may have given her too much Vicodin the night before her death, yet she woke up in the morning feeling a lot better. It’s also being reported that Scoggins left the home on the day Donda passed, to attend a baby shower. Later on that evening, Donda suffered a painful death and was unable to contact her nephew.

Authorities are investigating his professional conduct, saying that he gave her too much Vicodin in a short period of time.

My exclusive interview with Lady GaGa!

by roberta on Nov.25, 2008, under articles

Lady GaGa

I just got off the phone with Lady GaGa with her exclusive interview for Earsucker. Before the call, I was told that she was pressed for time, so I wanted to keep it short. She was very cordial and nice. I tried to keep up with her, with my trusty laptop, so my apologies if I left anything out. She dished on her name, the album, her favorite song, and Christina Aguilera!

ROBERTA FERGUSON: Hello, how are you?

LADY GAGA: I’m good, thank you, just on the road.

RF: Can I ask where your name comes from?

LG: They used to call me Ga-Ga in the studio, similarly to Freddie Mercury [of Queen].

RF: Did Freddie Mercury or Queen have an influence on the type of music that you make?

LG: Absolutely.

RF: Why did you name your album The Fame? Is there a meaning behind that?

LG: The album started out with a bunch of different experiments. They were analyzing ideas about fame and pop culture. Even though nobody knew who we were, we wanted people to know who we were. It’s an attitude.

RF: What is your favorite song on the album and why?

LG: Paparazzi. It’s a fantastic song and emblematic of what I’m trying to do as an artist. It’s an artistic song message.

RF: Looking at your videos, they seem very theatrical, do you have a lot of fun with them?

LG: I love it. I design all of the clothing. It makes me tick, being creative.

RF: What would you say to people who haven’t listened to your music before?

LG: Pick up my record!

RF: And to new fans like me?

LG: I love you. Thank you so much for supporting me. Come to one of my shows and see the performance.

RF: Christina Aguilera said that she didn’t know who you were or whether or not you’re a man or a woman. Any comment on that? I thought it was rude.

LG: I don’t take offense to it. I’m inspired by androgyny and David Bowie and Grace Jones.

RF: And the MTV performance? It was said that she stole your look?

LG: The performance bared a resemblance. I don’t have a look. I dress like this all the time. I have no enemies.

RF: Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate it. I know you’re pressed for time, so I will leave it at that.

LG: Thank you.

Special thanks to Lady GaGa for speaking with me today. She was as nice as pie. If you’re not yet a fan of her method of technopop, then it’s not too late to become one. Her music deserves it’s own classification, and it makes you want to get up and dance.

AC/DC’s “Rock & Roll Train” video in ASCII

by roberta on Nov.25, 2008, under articles

Talk about crazy. Here’s AC/DC’s song “Rock and Roll Train” but put into ASCII art in an Excel spreadsheet. You can go here to watch the whole thing. If you’re running Windows and have Excel, you should only have to enable macros to watch the clip. If you have Open Office, odds are it won’t work for you.

I can’t even imagine how much time this took to make. Kudos.

Enjoy!

Amy Winehouse is single, guys!

by roberta on Nov.24, 2008, under articles

Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil have decided to go their separate ways. After she waited for so long for him to get out of jail, they have split up. Crackie love only lasts so long, I guess.

She confirmed the split by saying, “It’s over. There’s no way back for us now. It was never going to last. We were only together for sex.” Ewww… That is a nasty thought. Thanks a lot, Amy!

It had long been rumored that they were cheating on each other anyways, so I guess this really doesn’t come as much of a surprise. I wonder who’s going to be her next victim? Any thoughts?

Off of their newest album, Here We Stand, The Fratellis are going to release their next single, A Heady Tale, on December 22nd. The song is said to be a depressing song and it’s just in time for the holiday season. Yay.

John Fratelli says, “It has a Christmas-sounding melody with the most depressing sounding lyrics ever. I couldn’t write a happy Christmas song. It’s about people who have lonely Christmases.”

Check it out:

I dig it. Do you?

I heart Chinese Democracy

by roberta on Nov.20, 2008, under articles

Guns

Last night, Guns N’ Roses allowed us all to have a preview of their long-awaited album, Chinese Democracy. I just got around to having a listen, and it’s not what I expected at all. I thought Axl Rose would complete suck in his own pompous self righteous way. But, nope.

It took a few days, but the song Chinese Democracy grew on me like a fungus. The song Better reminds me of why I liked Guns N’ Roses in the first place. It’s Axl Rose’s voice. There I said it. Crucify me. I might just actually buy this one.

What do you think of the new album?
