This isn’t the first time that John McCain’s camp have used campaign songs that were unauthorized by the makers. Heart didn’t want the McCain campaign using “Barracuda” and the Foo Fighters sure don’t want him using their hit, “My Hero”, either.
The AP reports that the Foo Fighters have requested that McCain stop using their song. The band says, “The saddest thing about this is that ‘My Hero’ was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song.”
