My exclusive interview with Lady GaGa!

I just got off the phone with Lady GaGa with her exclusive interview for Earsucker. Before the call, I was told that she was pressed for time, so I wanted to keep it short. She was very cordial and nice. I tried to keep up with her, with my trusty laptop, so my apologies if I left anything out. She dished on her name, the album, her favorite song, and Christina Aguilera!
ROBERTA FERGUSON: Hello, how are you?
LADY GAGA: I’m good, thank you, just on the road.
RF: Can I ask where your name comes from?
LG: They used to call me Ga-Ga in the studio, similarly to Freddie Mercury [of Queen].
RF: Did Freddie Mercury or Queen have an influence on the type of music that you make?
LG: Absolutely.
RF: Why did you name your album The Fame? Is there a meaning behind that?
LG: The album started out with a bunch of different experiments. They were analyzing ideas about fame and pop culture. Even though nobody knew who we were, we wanted people to know who we were. It’s an attitude.
RF: What is your favorite song on the album and why?
LG: Paparazzi. It’s a fantastic song and emblematic of what I’m trying to do as an artist. It’s an artistic song message.
RF: Looking at your videos, they seem very theatrical, do you have a lot of fun with them?
LG: I love it. I design all of the clothing. It makes me tick, being creative.
RF: What would you say to people who haven’t listened to your music before?
LG: Pick up my record!
RF: And to new fans like me?
LG: I love you. Thank you so much for supporting me. Come to one of my shows and see the performance.
RF: Christina Aguilera said that she didn’t know who you were or whether or not you’re a man or a woman. Any comment on that? I thought it was rude.
LG: I don’t take offense to it. I’m inspired by androgyny and David Bowie and Grace Jones.
RF: And the MTV performance? It was said that she stole your look?
LG: The performance bared a resemblance. I don’t have a look. I dress like this all the time. I have no enemies.
RF: Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate it. I know you’re pressed for time, so I will leave it at that.
LG: Thank you.
Special thanks to Lady GaGa for speaking with me today. She was as nice as pie. If you’re not yet a fan of her method of technopop, then it’s not too late to become one. Her music deserves it’s own classification, and it makes you want to get up and dance.
