Taylor Hicks gets dropped from his label

Taylor Hicks, unlike fellow musicians Radiohead and Trent Reznor, has actually been dropped from his label, J Records. He was the second performer to get dropped from the label in the span of three weeks. Hicks won season five of American Idol and released his debut album on the label.
His record didn’t receive the fanfare that they thought it might and the Soul Patrol people weren’t enough of a push for him to keep in good standing with the label.
And all of this, just weeks after J Records also dropped Ruben Studdard.
A label spokesperson tells Entertainment Weekly, “Taylor is going to record his next album on his own. He is no longer on the J Records roster.
I think it would’ve been better if he would’ve dropped them, then it would have been good press for Taylor.
