At 2am last night, there was an accident at the end of Disney’s 4th of July celebration. Monorails pink and purple collided near the Magic Kingdom’s Transportation and Ticket Center, after guests viewing the fireworks boarded.

The driver of the one monorail was pronounced dead on the scene, while the other driver, who was at the back end of the car, was said to be okay.

Mike Griffin, Walt Disney World’s Vice President Of Public Affairs, said this in a statement:

“Today, we mourn the loss of our fellow cast member. Our hearts go out to his family and to those who have lost a friend and co-worker. The safety of our guests and cast members is always our top priority. The monorail is out of service and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement to determine what happened and the approximate next steps.”

In the 38-year history of the monorail at Disney, this has been their first fatal accident. May he rest in peace.
