Michael Jackson public funeral to be held on July 7th at the Staples Center

by on July 01, 2009 | 12 Comments

michael_jackson_staples_centerWe’ve just learned that the Jackson family is holding a public ceremony for Michael at 10am on July 7, 2009 at the Los Angeles Staples Center. AEG Live reportedly will use the Staples Center along with the Nokia Theater for the funeral.

AEG is also reportedly placing gigantic screens outside the facilities for the people who aren’t able to get into the arena for the actual ceremony.

This debunks previous speculation that Michael’s funeral would be at the Neverland Ranch.

The music lives forever and that’s why I say Sony, iTunes, Amazon, et al – should provide that a percentage of their gross MJ profits should go to feed/help children (UNICEF?) because the fans are buying – in the case of Record companies/Distributors make it permanent like J.M. Barrie did in 1929 when he specified copyright of the Peter Pan works should go to the UK’s leading children’s hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital. And no matter what anyone’s feelings for Michael, his legacy would still be helping children. In fact it becomes everyone’s legacy. It’s about the good this can do for a long time, just like Peter Pan does. So whenever the children need – we’ll be there. It’s as simple as ABC :) Make it happen so we can “make that change”.

That is such a great idea. Thanks for sharing that. I hope they decide to do that, it would be wonderful and I’m sure Michael would’ve loved that honor.

The city of Los Angeles is going to spend close to a million dollars on police, traffic, ambulance, security for the funeral? On June 13 when the Lakers held their parade it cost the city well over a million dollars. Where exactly is this money going to come from?

If ur child was really molested would you put a price on that? He was framed, they investigated that – he was innocent. NOTHING will stop his legency – not even lies being passed as the truth..

  • victoria

Serious educate your self before you call him a child molester.. The family’s that claimed he molested where paid off if he molested dont you think they would of exposed him…Nah they did if for money lied to get money!!

I do feel the family should pay for police and security for furneral..

    • joe B.

Of course they took the money, who wouldn’t, the damage was already done. Do you think a stupid jury would convict him….of course not! Jacko himself said that he wanted this case “To just go away” so he made a deal with this poor kid(s). Dont get me wrong, I still think he was a good entertainer (and so are clowns), but also a sick Child Molester.

      • peter

seriously, joe B., you act like you were the one that was molested. are you 100% about what michael did or did not do? that’s what i thought. now stfu and let the man rest in peace. no one gives a isht that you think that he was a good entertainer. no duh. you’re just getting his fans (like me) upset by talking trash about a man who just passed away. why don’t you show up at the staples center this sunday and say all this stuff you’re saying now, joe Biatch = hater.

        R.I.P. Michael.
