Miley Cyrus Is Mocking Asian People

Miley Cyrus should really be ashamed of herself for this one. She’s sitting there, in a photo that’s been circulating the internet, along with Justin Gaston, doing the slanted-eyes thing with her fingers to mock people of Asian descent.

Shame, shame, shame. Bad chipmunk!

The OCA, a group who is “dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans” has released a statement saying that the slanted-eyes photo is offensive and sets a bad example for her many fans. Basically they are asking for an apology and for Miley to learn why the gesture is so offensive.

That would mean that Miley has to learn something. And that’s just something that spoiled rich brats don’t do.

I’m Asian WITH the stereotypical small Asian Eyes and I truly did not find it insulting. Like she has typed, it was all for fun PLUS there was an Asian guy in that picture PLUS she wasn’t the only one doing so. It’s not like she made a rude comment to go along with what she did.

Miley is obviously really not learning from her mistakes so she can go down the drain along with her career. She doesn’t understand from previous scandals that the media and public analyzes her every move and action, so she should think with her minuscule brain and consider the consequences before doing an idiotic thing. Even though there is an Asian guy in the picture, he probably doesn’t view the situation as seriously as the actual Asian public does. She’s going to lose a lot of fans and respect for this- and even though she probably already has, she should learn. We know you’re really religious and all, but she’s got to stop saying Thank You God for everything.
She’s a role model for kids? I think she should step down and let Selena be a role model. I have lost all my respect for Miley.

I’m Asian, and I do find that picture disgusting. One of the annoying things about living in this country are the little kids who come up to you, pull their eyes back, and start saying, “ah so ah so”. The worst part of it is that their parents would then have to apologize and say their kid meant no harm, just having fun, etc., etc. It’s happened to me at least a half dozen times. What disturbs me the most is why anyone would even think this was funny? Do you walk in front of a person with multiple sclerosis and start to flop your legs and arms around in amusement ? It’s exactly the same mentality. “I see your appearance and I think you’re funny, haha!”
That is absolutely sick. I hope Miley and all her stupid friends in that picture get raked over the coals for their asinine behavior. As for the Asian guy in the middle, I’ve been in those situations, too. Your friends do something racist and inappropriate, so what can you do? Stomp out ? Then you get the same kind of shit that people on this Web site have been throwing out – you can’t take a joke, it’s just for fun, etc. Really a no win situation.
