OneMillionMoms Bashes Miley Cyrus Over Gay Comments

by on May 01, 2009 | 14 Comments

When Perez Hilton asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean her opinion on gay marriage, she responded that marriage should be between a man and a woman. In his outrage, he took to his Twitter page to ask all of the celebrities he knows their thoughts on the topic.

Miley Cyrus, obviously trying to get in his good graces, responded that she supports gay marriage. Now, OneMillionMoms is taking on the tween for her opinions.

Check out their letter to Cyus:

Such statements will send the wrong message to our children who are influenced by this teenage megastar. Parents need to realize that Cyrus is not the positive role model she was once thought to be.

Take Action

Send Miley Cyrus a letter stating that you do not approve of her comments.

Clearly she is confused and does not understand the Bible. Please pray for the Lord to open her eyes to the truth.

Sincerely,

Monica Cole, Director
OneMillionMoms.com

Why won’t they just let this die already? People are allowed to have their opinions. Enough is enough.

OneMillionMoms – Wow! Looks like this organization has a lot time on their hands. Isn’t there a charity that they can put their energy too? Get a life.

  • David

Maybe if onemillionmoms payed more attention to their children instead of bashing celebrities they wouldn’t have to worry about their children being influenced in ways they don’t agree with.

  • Chris

It doesn’t matter what she would have said “someone” out there wouldn’t like it. Everyone has their own opinion and no one has the right to say that it’s wrong or right, it’s just an opinion, so leave her alone. There are other things in this world that are worse to worry about.

  • Chloe

That just means that one million mums are teaching their children to be homophobic i think miley gave the right answer to gay marriage and reguardless of what the bible says if their is a god then he will want everyone to be happy and if they want to marry their gay partners then let them. Miley has courage for what she said and it just shows how grown up she is if anything it makes her a better role model!!

My orgnization, Christian Democrats of America, does not see anything un-biblical with Miley Cyrus’ statement about Jesus loving you if you are gay. I wonder if onemillionmoms has read the New Testament, to make such a statement? Miley did not say she agreed with a gay lifestyle – as we do not either. We/the Bible also don’t agree with a heterosexual couple living together before marriage. We/the Bible also don’t agree with gossip. We/the Bible also…don’t agree with a judgmental or arrogant attitiude. But Jesus even loves those who have this kind of attitude!

all yall who comment on this page are wrong. God did explain the gay lifestyle is wrong. read genesis 19:1- 29, levitcus 20:13, 18: 22 and romans 1:26-27

  • whatajoke

Didn’t the Bible say Jesus loves everyone? Didn’t Jesus himself befriend a prostitute when everyone else shunned her? Do those onemillionmoms think Jesus is homophobic? Miley is right…sometimes it takes a child to see the obvious.

Leave miley alone. She has every right 2 state her opition. Everyone does. If u don’t like it then tough. Every one has the right to an option. Like my option about onemillionmom, you guys need 2 go get a life and stop hating a 16 yearold. Everyone deserved to be loved by god no matter what. God loves everyone. He loves straight people, gay people, pedofiles and murders. He loves everyone no matter what.

I don’t get this. This girl has shown her bra to to world, posed in a racy “Vanity Fair” ad with her father and made fun of Asians and yet THIS is what they feel “will send the wrong message to our children”?!?!?!?! What the hell. These onemillionharpies should get lost.

  • Cassie

i am 20 years old and i agree with miley not because i am a fan but because i think its a life choice if u wanna be gay or not

  • S

to onemillionmoms: SERIOUSLY GET A LIFE!

  • James U

You guys are all saying that everyone has a right to their opinions. Then why doesn’t onemillionmoms have that right to? Why can’t they express what they believe? You bigots…

  • Alicia

Re: James U – I see what you’re saying, and I’ve wondered if maybe we are just as bad to point a finger and say “you are wrong.” But here’s the thing: No one is starting a letter writing campaign against One Million Moms for their beliefs. We’re simply pointing out that going after a teen star for making positive comments about homosexuality… Well, there IS something wrong with that. It could also be argued that their beliefs, particularly in this day and age, are bigoted and an example of hate speech. Discriminating against people because of their sexual orientation is not much different than discriminating against people because of the colour of their skin – it is spreading hate against a group of people because of something biological. And frankly, I’m terrified that these women are spreading this message of hate to a new generation – their children.

Maybe they could learn a thing or two about respect for humanity from Miley Cyrus. Not every day I get to make a statement like that.

And Shari, here’s something you might want to read, too:

The biggest lesson that you (and I mean “you” in the universal sense) can take away from the Bible is love. LOVE one another. LOVE your neighbour. It doesn’t say “love your neighbour, unless they happen to be gay.” I have a feeling that God isn’t nearly as judgmental and narrow-minded as people who misuse the Bible make Him out to be.
