Adam Lambert disses Susan Boyle?
Uh oh! Apparently Adam Lambert has a little bit of a bone to pick with Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
When speaking to a magazine recently the American Idol singer said that he didn’t like her debut album. Prior to that, he said that the UK is more tolerant with homosexuality and androgyny.
Speaking to the leading gay monthly, the performer said: “I just think that you guys in the UK are way ahead in terms of tolerance. It’s really interesting. In the UK and in Europe it’s less of an issue because people are more comfortable with their sexualities.
“And not just the gay thing, but even playful things, like the concept of androgyny. That is something that generally many Americans are uncomfortable with.”
He later went on to discuss Susan Boyle, who kept him off the top spot in the charts. He said: “I’m happy for her success, but that album is terrible. Wild Horses is the one that just made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!”

Pour little thing. The media has been helping him doing everything possible so he can sale at least 10% of what Susan Boyle already sold in the same time (and without fellatio on stage) and he dare to criticize her job. This freaking mixture in between Prince and Boy George is full of Envy?
Comment by Andro — February 23, 2010 @ 6:11 am
You said what I was thinking Andro. All that make up just creeps me out. If he really said that about Susan Boyle's record, well, that's further proof of what a jerk he really is. He thinks very highly of himself, but he was knocked down a peg or two and it must have really hurt his pride. It isn't her fault that people bought her record but his fans didn't buy his.
Comment by Kathy — February 23, 2010 @ 6:37 am
What a disgusting little reptile he is! A case of jealousy rampant.
Comment by Cadfael — February 23, 2010 @ 6:41 am
I find that when someone stoops so awfully low and bashes other people and their accomplishments, it's because of a deep-seated fear that they are in someway inferior to that other person. Susan Boyle spent many years as caregiver to her mom, and didn't get the early break that someone like Lambert did. She has paid her dues in spades and deserves the accolades that she is finally getting. I don't care how talented or marvelous someone like Lambert is supposed to be–if he is bashing someone like Susan, he doesn't deserve the fame, the rewards or the attention that he has gotten. The point in life is to be humble and compassionate, and he obviously has neither virtue. There is such a thing as healthy self-esteem, but arrogance oversteps the boundaries of common decency.
Comment by hyphenate — February 23, 2010 @ 6:58 am
The source is the Gay Times. I don't know that particular magazine but it's up online if you want to see the whole interview. It's hard to imagine anyone would say that. First, the song is generally recognized as being pretty good, even for those whose personal style differs from the rest of the album. But even in the off chance he really hates it, you'd think he'd have more restraint. Not just because it's a nasty thing to say (And before now Adam hasn't seemed nasty. Flambouyant? Yes. Nasty? No.), but it's also a really bad pr move. Maybe this is a journalistic invention. If it is, Adam needs to address it before the story catches fire.
Comment by Blink — February 23, 2010 @ 7:04 am
Did Adam really say that?? How do we know for sure, maybe the media just fabricated the whole story to make Adam seem arrogant.I hope he didn't really say that because he doesn't need to feel threatened by anyone. He is a very talented singer with lots of fans. He has a good heart and always seems so polite to everyone.Don't call him names because we don't know wether he actually said those things.
Comment by ariesss — February 23, 2010 @ 7:09 am
Adam Adam Adam , say it isn't so! Adam has always been so gracious and positive about other artists and their music. We can only hope that he was talking about the song choices, not Susan Boyle's talent. The quote I have read says he said that she is "amazing" but that he just didn't like her album. He'll be the first to say that people who like his album should buy it and people who don't should buy someone else's. But, Adam doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is doing very well and should not open up this can of worms. Susan Boyle is beloved because of her story. Good voice, yes. I happen to think Adam Lambert has an amazing unparalleled voice, but he shouldn't piss ppl in the UK off before he begins his tour. He is a kind person who made a stupid remark annd he should address it as soon as possible and apologize.
Comment by jenna — February 23, 2010 @ 7:26 am
I doubt Susan Boyle even knows who Adam is. She has a beautiful voice and i am not the only one who thinks so. She certainly sold a ton of albums. Who cares what Mr. Lambert says.
Comment by Hunter — February 23, 2010 @ 7:31 am
Adam Lambert's album was the second best selling album the week of November 23. Nobody could have competed against Susan Boyle with her international internet fame. Good for her. Good for him. Adam has a great sense of humor and absolutely no filter. He must have been very comfortable in this interview and didn't filter his opinion. He thinks Susan Bolyle is amazing. He doesn't prefer her cd. He needs to say that- fast. Adam has never disrespected anyone, even when haters have disrespected him in every way. It's a shame that he was quoted on this, because it will get blown out of proportion.
Comment by jojo — February 23, 2010 @ 7:31 am
I wouldn't rule out that Adam has a side to him that didn't emerge publicly before. A lot of people resent her. In fact one of the fascinating things about Boyle's story, apart from her unprecedented rapid ascent, is the people who turned on her. Holden for example, seemed to be genuinely moved by her performance and very supportive. But then she went off and did a vicious skit with Alan Carr. She HAD to know what she was doing. Osbourne did the same thing on radio. SHE even went so far as expressing distain for the physically sub-par contestants on AGT. She apologized after a fed up poster went after her daughter with some pointed remarks. It's a complete circus around SB and not always a fun one.
Comment by Blink — February 23, 2010 @ 7:36 am
SCREW ADAM. I had just about enough of him after he went down hill beyond idol with his HORRIBLE performances. I voted for him due to his voice on idol. But soon after than it fell apart. Out of tune singing, and the terrible ama thing. Now he's making fun of Susan Boyle's album and voice. I am so over him I just tossed his freaking CD in the trash. It was a huge let down any way. The only ones Adam will have left will be his pathetic, sheep fans who wouldn't care if he decapitated goats and drank their blood. Let's do the math. Horrible CD. But even if it was just ok, Horrible shows and HORRIBLE out of tune singing. What happened? Did someone spray dummy dust on him? Has he been huffing glue? And he's supposed be unassuming, modest etc? Handing things out to the school to LOOK like the nice guy, while he laughs at Susan's CD? He IS A FAKE!
Comment by first — February 23, 2010 @ 7:48 am
THAT ARROGANT FOOL! WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?…PROVE SOMETHING FIRST BEFORE YOU DISS GURL! HECK YOU SURE DO NOT DESERVE THE TITLE "AMERICAN IDOL" IM GLAD YOU LOST.
Comment by Solstice — February 23, 2010 @ 7:53 am
Adam absolutely HAS a filter. As people have mentioned, he's generally gracious and tactful. If you're referring to "the kiss", that's because he genuinely didn't feel it needed to be filtered. He has a point. People wouldn't have reacted as strongly had it been two women. But please be careful. "S/he doesn't have a filter" is just code for giving someone a pass who wants to self-indulgently run-at-the-mouth w/o consequences. We've entered the age of rudeness. But Adam DOES have a filter. And to Jenna, I don't think Susan's album was as good as it could have been. But neither was Adam's. Both in their own way were trite, and did not reflect the range of their artistic abilities. That's what happens when new artists go into "the studios" unarmed.
Comment by Blink — February 23, 2010 @ 8:00 am
I read the article. In it adam says he is 27 when he is 28 and it quotes him. That is not a fact. So, I don't know if these words about SB are also words put in his mouth. Just my observation. And this interview happened after his bday supposedly. So, I don't think the interview is taken word for word from Adam's mouth.
Comment by Anna — February 23, 2010 @ 8:31 am
I’ve learned over the years that the media can twist the truth so as to sell news. i’m sure Adam knows better than to diss a fellow artist.
Comment by O'Rams — February 23, 2010 @ 3:46 am
Of course Susan Boyle knows who Adam Lambert is!! They appeared on Oprah together.
Comment by Guest — February 23, 2010 @ 9:34 am
He didn't bash HER personally and said nothing negative about her accomplishments. It's an opinion from a singer about another singer's album. BTW,Lambert didn't get the early break that you claim. He has paid HIS dues too. He's been working in the industry for years and Idol was his big break!
Comment by Breal — February 23, 2010 @ 10:12 am
Shut up!
Comment by Breal — February 23, 2010 @ 10:13 am
Sorry to burst your 'attack bubble',Kendra, but Adam just tweeted that he was misquoted! I don't think he's jealous of Susan by the way.
Comment by Breal — February 23, 2010 @ 1:01 pm
This was his tweet – 1 day later. LOL “Oh joy! MisQuoted again… Becoming quite funny actually.” Adam Lambert continues to show poor judgment and dig his own grave.
Comment by Steve — February 23, 2010 @ 8:51 am
What? He's now under attack because he's trying to set the record straight. Oh I get it. Haters can't stand or acknowledge when they're wrong so they just ignore the truth!
How is setting the record straight poor judgment?
You would think Adam non- fans would appreciate that he didn't make those comments. Instead, I think they're disappointed he didn't!
And,Steve…..so whta if the tweet was one day later. Do you think he lives his life searching out sites that write crap about him? He's a bit busy having a career!
Comment by Bloni — February 23, 2010 @ 2:33 pm
ADAM never said that!!!!! he was just misquoted again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment by imane — February 23, 2010 @ 3:03 pm
People don't be sheep and believe everything that someone writes on the net. Really, wasn't the Kris vs. Adam thing enough to show you that the media is out to pick fights with Adam? That quote is so Howard Stern and embellished at best. WHY is it a sin to not like Susan Boyle's music anyway? I cringed when I heard "Wild Horses" and I don't care if Mick was PC by complementing her–everyone knows that he loves money and was loving his revenues from those sales of her CD. Susan can be a real potty mouth herself and she isn't a saint so, take off the gloves and realize that you've been punked by the media this time.
When did it become a crime to dislike Susan's CD or Susan's voice? She gets my sympathy vote for having a tough life but to have to go around a praise her just because she is mentally fragile is so really unfair.
Comment by Cookie — February 23, 2010 @ 3:04 pm
lolz I agree with Adam's "misquote". I never fell for the whole Susan Boyle manipulated, cringe worthy story and think her record is crap. I do think that Adam's publicist needs to step up and do a better job though, because perception is reality, and a lot of people are not as accepting of the truth and honesty as I am.
Comment by lilyx — February 23, 2010 @ 3:17 pm
It is VERY unlikely that he said that. It seems pretty obviously devised to start a scandal, but if you look at any of his video interviews, you'll see that he does not waste time making disrespectful remarks about other artists. He's smart, he's diplomatic, and he's too aware that blabbing something like this to a gay rag would look bad for him. No chance he actually said that.
Comment by JCfromNY — February 23, 2010 @ 3:45 pm
Oh the poor little famewhore Lambert now tweets that he was misquoted. What a jerk he is. I bet he gets lots of exercise with all the back peddling he has to do. Lambert will do and/or say anything at all in order to keep his name out there. He is not cutting it in the industry like he and his fans hoped he would, so now he's going to start looking for attention in the UK. Those poor people over there. If they want him, they can have him. Just PLEASE keep him. Tick, tock, tick, tock… 15 minutes and counting and then he'll do something else to start that 15 minutes all over again. What a joke Lambert is.
Comment by Guest — February 23, 2010 @ 4:04 pm
Oh, and you know he's backpedalling because….? You mean to tell us that no one has ever taken anything you've said out of context? Just keep attacking him regardless of the truth. It becomes a way of life for you people. No truth,we thrive on unsubstantiated stuff so we have an excuse to repeatedly put him down. So transparent!
And stop with the 15 minutes saying! You must have a really slow watch,'cause it's been '15 minutes' for a long, long time!!!
Comment by Bloni — February 23, 2010 @ 4:34 pm
I wouldn't rule out the possibility the journo re-wrote part of the interview to create a stir. The British press is worse than the US press. Even if you thought the album wasn't pretty bad (like I said I don't think Adam's was very good either, not by a long stretch), it seems unlikely that an artist would go after that particular song. It's generally agreed that she did a pretty solid rendition of Wild Horses.
Comment by Blink — February 23, 2010 @ 4:44 pm
By the way,do you have to resort to nasty name-calling in your effort to prove a point (famewhore? nice)? I don't see anyone call SuBo names in their efforts to defend Adam. To quote a famous line from the movie 'A Few Good Men,"You can't handle the truth!" What other reason would there be for you to keep perpetuating the hatred?
Comment by Bloni — February 23, 2010 @ 4:56 pm
It's 'backpedalling',btw,not 'back peddling'.
Comment by Guesttoo — February 23, 2010 @ 5:09 pm
I really don't like this guy. He should shut up until he has as many fans as Susan does. How many albums did he sell again? His jealousy is a real turn off.
Comment by Kendra — February 23, 2010 @ 12:55 pm
Boy – where to even start with this. Here is Adam's twitter: "Oh joy! MisQuoted again… Becoming quite funny actually." I'm glad for his sake he can maintain his sense of humor about this. Oh, Adam, your UK experience is just getting ready to start, and this is what comes out up front. We've all heard about the horrible British tabloids. Guess what we've heard is correct. But Adam can handle it. I reluctantly went to the "Gay Times" website to see if there was any audio or video of it. Guess what. No. What a surprise. The article starts out with the fact that they (Adam & the interviewer) were both in their pajamas. Yeah. Um-hmmm. I think you can just rate the whole article, including its factual errors, based on the opening sentence. The only good thing is that they are at least complimentary to his album. Then why the twisting or fabricating of Adam's words? Oh yeah, I remember. Website hits.
Comment by kumulus — February 23, 2010 @ 8:23 pm
Actually, I believe Adam's album was the third-highest selling that week. SuBo was no. 1, Andrea Bocelli no. 2 with his Christmas album, Adam no. 3, and then everyone else's albums.
Comment by kumulus — February 23, 2010 @ 8:31 pm
Blink, I have to correct you. Adam has said himself that he has no filter sometimes. He said that early on in his AI experience. I believe it was when he was being interviewed at that one and only AI party that was held where they were allowed to talk to the media, when the top (24, 36, pick one, I can't remember) were in place.
Comment by kumulus — February 23, 2010 @ 8:37 pm
Adam spends hours and hours on camera and tape, praising other singers, writers, performers, artists but that is not satisfying to the icky-ewies who just can't wait to say, "see, see…..that awful person". He has been stupidly compared with SB since day one and relentlessly prodded to comment about her. They have been taunted on the internet with ugly photos and sicky little films about them. We all know that there are many more people who do not like serious rock music, don't even consider it music and choose NEVER to listen to it ….. those millions were moved by the angelic purity of someone from homespun obscurity and so they bought her album. SO WHAT!! Has nothing to do with those of us who appreciate Adam's sexual honesty and efforts to bring us ragin' rock music experiences (which he has like none other).
Comment by @coloforadam — February 23, 2010 @ 8:52 pm
Paris Hilton or Adam Lambert? Both of those girls are so classy!
Comment by Kyra — February 23, 2010 @ 9:23 pm
kumulus Adam’s filter has worked just fine so far, regardless of his claims. And coloforadam, surely you jest. No devotee of “rock” would consider Adam a rocker. He’s WAY too mainstream in sesnsibility. The 90s band The Glamtarts? Maybe. Adam? No. I know people who wouldn’t be caught dead listening to Lambert or Boyle. Most people who are into rock won’t. Although among those many have taste that spill into many genres. But rarely would either of these two be on the short list.
Comment by Blink — February 23, 2010 @ 4:43 pm
You people are soooo dumb!!! Adam would never diss another artist no matter what he may think personaly.Wow,how gullible you are!!! Adam is very sweet and incredible and for you to just assume he said it speaks volumes about your character.

Your lack up humour unfortunately doesn`t make up for your dumb post. Just another person with nothing to say but chomping at the bit to say something!
Comment by Guesty — February 23, 2010 @ 9:52 pm
He does seem sweet. This isn't the kind of crap he's pulled before. Let's wait and see if the quote is complete garbage, let's hope it is.

Misquoted my butt: http://www.gaytimes.co.uk/Magazine/InThisIssue-ar... Adam Lambert is just a bitchy attention whore. What a fake little poseur.
Comment by wer — February 24, 2010 @ 4:21 am
I doubt he actually said that. Doesnt sound like him and now says he was misquoted …again.
That said, Susan Boyle's album and especially her version of Wild Horses IS absolutely dreadful. Sales doesnt equate to good.
Comment by Loofa — February 24, 2010 @ 12:43 am
I find the incredible nastiness directed at Adam very disturbing. People are thick if they believe everything they read – don’t you know how the British media work? They make up shit, they twist words and they don’t give a damn how it hurts someone. Adam is a lovely guy…and he has every right to say he didn’t like Susan Boyle’s album…I didn’t either! Good on her for having success though…we all can’t like everyone. To the person above who thinks Adam doesn’t sing in tune – you have no idea! I train Choirs and it is incredibly rare to hear someone with his level of talent. Many people inb the music industry talk about how amazing his voice is.
Comment by Lady Grey — February 24, 2010 @ 12:46 am
oh please the quote is fabricated. British mag vs Adam, who has more to gain from this quote? Lose? Adam's not stupid. Why would someone who totally twisted Ring of Fire and Believe (or for that matter Satisfaction) think transforming Wild Horses would be horrendous or sacreligious. Has he EVER listed the STONES as one of his influence idols? Has he ever gone on record with negative comments about ANY other artist (that hasnt attacked him first)?
Its likely he's not a big fan of SuBos album, judging by hismusic and the other artists he endorses, but this makes no sense. ALL celebrities are attention whores by definition, but site one other time when he was acted bitchy unprovoked outside the
numerous debunked net smears of which this will soon be added.
Comment by Carl — February 24, 2010 @ 5:55 am
I find it very hard to believe Adam said those things. When he was asked what he thought about Tiger Woods, he refused to diss him and stated only that he was a good golfer and let's focus on his golf!!!! In every interview I've ever seen of Adam, he is always very complimentary of others and I dare say I've never heard him really talk bad about anyone. I think this is just another ploy to get people to hate Adam. I know Adam has a "dark side", but he really is a nice person. And for those of you who look down on what he's doing for music programs in schools, shame on you!!!!! What have you done for children lately. People are just always so willing to believe the negative bad things and even more eager to belittle the good things in other people. We are a sick society, seriously!!! Adam is no angel, but he is hardly as bad as some of you would like to believe.
Comment by Linda — February 24, 2010 @ 6:05 pm
Those words were put into ADAM's mouth. It's absolutely OUT of CHARACTER. That is NOT who ADAM is. A Brit poster said in LA Times that it's in British Eglish and same words already published before in the same gay magazine how they hated SB's CD. And it quoted ADAM saying he is 27 which is not a fact. So, plainly misquoted.
Comment by Angel — February 24, 2010 @ 8:04 pm
Let's face it if Ms. Boyle didn't look the way she did and have the back story she had no one would even care about her and her album. Even her idol Elaine Paige didn't think all that much of her or her voice. I like her I don't love her and would not buy her album, millions disagree with me. I do wonder how many of those millions of CDs sold by Ms. Boyle have ever seen a second spin. It is not so much about loving Susan Boyle as it is about taking cheap shots at Adam.Lambert. Again!
Comment by Dale — February 24, 2010 @ 9:20 pm
Boy George re-invented, oops I mean Adam Lambert can talk smack all he wants. Obviously, millions of people love Susan Boyle's voice. I was floored by her amazing voice when I saw her perform on Oprah. People are allowed to enjoy all different genres of music. I would buy her album before I buy his. Nothing worse than a jealous girly boy throwing a little tizzy tandrum because he's not #1.
Susan Boyle doesn't have to wear tons of black mascara & kiss members of her same gender onstage to get people to pay attention to her. He should go home and pack fudge with his man-husband and be glad he even has a career.
