Adam Lambert addresses Bill Kaulitz copycat rumors

It has been rumored in the media that Adam Lambert has been copying Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz, but Adam took to his official Twitter account to clear it all up for us.

When a fan tweeted this message, “I think that @adamlambert’s profile pic is a big copy of Bill Kaulitz style”, apparently it caught the singer’s attention. He tweeted in response, “Ha. Was inspired by Elvis.”

He went on, “I was rockin this hairdo when bill still had his lions mane…all this copycat talk is dumb. Hahaha. I’m gonna incite a fan riot. Such fun. Been wearing eye makeup and nail polish since that boy was like 12 or something… No ones copying… Just so happen to have similar taste. Relaaaaaaaaax folks :) spend your energy more wisely.”

Besides, Adam hasn’t always rocked the dark look, before his days on American Idol, he was blonde!

    Tokio Hotel fans have been spamming Adam Lambert's Twitter account with nasty tweets for months, there's fan blogs all over the internet claiming Adam Lambert was a threat to that band… those teen girls that Tokio Hotel carters to are completely nuts and totally ingore the simple fact that anyone who Goolges Adam Lambert will find pictures that prove that Adam Lambert started to look like this when Bill Kaulitz was still some unkown kid living in a very small village in Germany. How could Lambert (who lives in Los Angeles) have known about Bill Kaulitz's existence and vice versa???

      I don't think he even knew who he was before, until he got into American Idol and that's when a lot of people notice. Because I did saw an interview of him from Idol saying that Bill Kaulitz is his hair idol. It's his hair idol, but did he change it to that lions mane that Bil Kaulitz had? no he didn't. The problem is that these fan girls are complaining about is that Adam has a crush on the guy. That's why they jump into the "Bill is no gay" bandwagon and that's when the insulting starts and the false accusations towards Adam. Why attack the poor man? he loves Bill so fuckin what? they just can't get through their little brains that Adam is Adam and he's not copying Bill at all. He likes him, but it's nothing to get freaked out about it.

    Adam Lambert is his own artist and very creative with his makeup and wardrobe,he was in the theater and music sceen since he was 10 years old and trying out different makeup and looks from way back in middle school, Bill is just starting out, so chill out Tokio Hotel fans and enjoy both artists. We are lucky to have experience them both.

      Adam lambert NEVER wore make up, painted his nails and dyed his hair black before highschool.

      Bill Kaulitz is famous with this style since 2005 and Adam Lambert since 2009. Adam is a bill fan and has a crush on him, he's the one who follows what Bill does not the other way around.

It's onl record in interviews with Adam's parents and pictures that Adam played with stage paint and played dressup since he was eight. Do you know what the word "COPY" means?     It's the Tokio Hotel fans that have been acting like complete idiots and making fools out of themselves. They have been spamming Adam and any article written about him. There are pics on the Internet from the early 2000's with Adam in the makeup and black nail polish. Interviews with his friends said he started wearing it in 2000 when Bill was about 9 years old. All those dumb TH fans did is manage to turn off a huge fan base. From what I understand they have been going after other male celebs that wear make-up. Bill must be so embarrased to have fans like that. Poor guy. Smart move TH fans. With fans like you Bill doesn't need enemies…real bright

    Just because two artists have similar tastes in make up, hair style & clothing does NOT mean that one is COPYING the other … especially in a business where individuality goes MUCH further than IMITATION … which by the way … since ADAM is older than Bill K. would seem quite UNlikely … don't you think? Since ADAM & Bill are from OPPOSITE sides of the globe how could either be COPYING the other since up to a YEAR or so ago NEITHER was aware of the other's EXISTENCE??

    Look at the pictures in this article. Same hair and shoulder spikes and guess which picture was taken first? Adam. I actually don't think they're copying each other, but I'm trying to show how stupid it is that people say Adam is copying Bill based on one pair of jeans he wore that were the same as Bill's after Bill wore them. Using that logic you would have to say Bill also copies Adam because he wore this shoulder spike jacket and hairstyle AFTER Adam. In reality I just think they have similar styles and I don't think any intentional copying is going on. I really wish the fans with sense would unite against all this hate and just support both guys. I think both of them would want us to respect other artists.

      I totally agree with you! These accusations are just rediculous. I actually uploaded a video on youtube yesterday where I compared some of Adam's outfits with some quite similar outfits that Bill wore later on, however I pulled it back because I wasn't sure of some copyrights issuses (was my first video). Adam's been wearing spikes on his shoulder druring the whole Idol tour, at the AMAs and he also wears a leather jacket with spikes on his shoulders on his album booklet which was all way before the picture of Bill was taken. I don't think Bill is copying Adam either, it just demonstrates how easy it is to make someone look like a copycat when two people are just sharing a similar taste in clothes.

    Look, I'm personally a fan of both Tokio Hotel and Adam Lambert. Bill and crew have been doing their thing since they were, like, thirteen, about my age. Adam has been singing since he was litte too. So what the hell? Dang it people, both Adam and Bill have their style, which is completely awesome, but don't go crazy over a few little similarities. Since Adam follows and studies fashion and style he is perfectly capable of picking out what he wants to wear and how he wears his hair.     I had never even heard of this Bill guy until Adam Lambert being the gracious artist he is spoke about him. As he has with Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, JB, etc, etc. In fact each and everytime Adam speaks or twitters about an artist he appreciates or a book, a clothing line, etc. I check that out. Adam Lambert is very influential and NICE! How many other artists out there routinely compliment or support others? Most of the time they are all about themselves.

    Oh nothing mention two pictures you see in the article are so different time periods because that picture of Adam was taking in the AMA awards and I have seen Adam wore those type of outfits in Idol as well especially in the finale when he got to performed with KISS. Bill on the other hand never EVER wore those type of outfits when he had the lions mane hair. He only wore shirts and pants, just regular outfit. He started wearing those oufits (like the picture above) back in January 2010 the start of his "Welcome To Humanoid City" tour. If you want to prove me wrong, go ahead. I know exactly where these two photos come from and when was it taken. The first time I have seen Adam wearing those spike shoulder pads was before Bill he even wore one. So there. :)

      Well the Tokio Hotel tour outfits were designed specially for Bill by Dean and Dan Caten from Dsquared. So if you are saying that Bill copied that style from Adam, you should acctually blaim the Caten brothers copying Adam… ;) I personally think that Adam's outfit was influenced by Kiss, just a guess you know. And I think that the Caten brothers just tried to design outfits which would be perfect for the theme of the Humanoid City tour, you know "alien like, out of space, humanoid etc.". But what it comes to Adam's and Bill's out of stage look, meaning their personal looks, I don't see either of them copying eachother. Yes, it's true that they like some of the same stuff and yes they have bought same design clothes, like the famous Dior jeans. But that happens to lot of celebrities. And black hair, black nails, glam style -> old thing. Neither Adam or Bill are the first ones playing with this kind of make-up and style. AND I don't even think that they have so similar styles. Adam is more glam and Bill has somehow more darker style. That's just my opinion though.

It's obvious that either both of the fantoms are not going to respect each other, but the ones I have seen so far that have done false accusations are the TH Fans spamming Adam and telling sh*t how he copy Bill and blah blah!.     And before Idol Adam was also dark-haired. Your picture is of Adam at school FFS. That’s hardly relevant. After he left school, ie TEN YEARS AGO he wore make-up and dyed his hair. That would be when Billy was just TEN YEARS OLD. So is it everyone’s belief that Adam has been copying Bill since Adam was 19 and Bill was 10? Of course not. That’s how ridiculous these claims are – and they continue to be made. Tokio Hotel fans accuse EVERYONE of copying their heroes and only pick more on Adam because he stupidly once said something nice about Bill. (let that be a lesson folks!!!) I don’t know why any sensible adults give their ridiculous claims any sort of credence. Especially when it is extremely well known that Tokio Hotel rip off other artists for their music. (eg Googoo Dolls – Iris, The Rasmus – Not like other girls – the list goes on. Google it.)
