Adam Lambert is bi-curious?

by on February 07, 2010 | 22 Comments

Pop star Adam Lambert says that he enjoys making out with girls from time to time. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

The illustrious singer and “American Idol” runner-up said that he is open to experimenting with his sexuality.

He said, “I like making out with girls from time to time. I have this curiosity at the back of my mind. I’ve never had sex with a woman and I’m a little bit curious about it.”

I don’t care about his sexuality and if he wants to experiment or think about it, then that’s his business. All I care about is his musical talent and not so much his personal life. Just keep kicking out the hits and my favorite song (as sung by him, written by Muse) and we’ll be just peachy.

We don’t need to keep referencing Adam with the “openly gay” label. He’s a singer and a phenomenal one at that. We don’t preface Madonna’s name with “openly straight singer”, so what’s the difference? They are both singers and deserve the same respect.

/Rant over.

Adam is a known party animal and has been hanging out in the night-club scene in Los Angeles for 10 years. Hard to believe a 28 year old guy who is "bi-curious" and makes out with women at the clubs has never had sex with a woman if he really wanted to. That's why I think it's just a PR stunt, and I don't like it one bit. This whole "bi-curious" thing started with his Rolling Stone interview 6 months ago and I think he's done some pretty stupid things by now, that "heterosexual "photoshoot with a naked woman being one of them. I dont really understand why any of this is being done. He says he is proud of his sexuality, but it's like he just have to throw "bi-curious" all the time, keep his female fan base. Looks rather like a sell-out to the gay community. Sadly. I'm still a fan of Adam but I had to rant.

  • betcrml

Please, let Adam be Adam. Everyone needs to stop making up accusations about how, when, and where he has sex. Yes, he does say he is proud of his sexuality, that being said does not mean " I'm gay and will never experience with the other sex"
So he may have some feelings for a girl, that is his business not ours! He is a magnificent singer, so let us appreciate him for that and leave the sex out of it.

  • Debbie

I agree that Adam is a fabulous singer and his personal sex life has been talked about way too much. Just let Adam be Adam. But, that said, he has said that he likes kissing girls and they know he is gay and he is not going to have sex with them. He doesn’t lie, he’s very honest about himself, and maybe that’s his one fault because people tend to take every word he says and turn it into what they want. This is not a PR stunt – it’s just Adam being honest.

  • Lisa

Adam says he doesn't want his sexuality to be an issue but his words and actions don't always prove this. I think that he needs to give it a rest and stop repeating those "I'm gay but …" statements after making such a point of coming out of the closet. . He can either be an openly gay man and leave it at that or he can just say he's bi and leave it at that. Stepping back to the "is he/isn't he?" is lame, tired and unnecessary. If he continues to do all the game-playing about his sexuality (if that is what it is) , it will only make people lose respect for him. Lots of gay people are already saying he is a sell-out .

  • ana

I absolutely agree with your last two paragraphs, which makes me wonder why you wrote the first three at all!

  • Don't know about you

First of all, Adam is ALWAYS ASKED by reporters and interviewers about his sexuality. Adam has once said in an interview if he got sick of it. He had said that it's redundant and sad, however, that he's not one to back down from a question because he's an open book and an honest one at that.

So quit your complaining about him talking about his sexuality. If you don't want to hear about it, then don't be curious about it yourselves. Obviously, the reporters know that you are curious about his sex life, that's why they continue to ask.
Is Adam really the only star whose sexual business they like to "be all up in?" Or do they do this to others, too (on a smaller scale, but still)?

I am a fan of Adams also….and want to stay that way…Why can't he let the Gay go and just talk about men and women..Rock Hudson was one of the most gorgous men and he never came out (till the end) but I think and one who has a voice like Adam can go way up the ladder of fame…and Adam is very smart as you can tell in his interviews…..People let it go and just let him be a man and do as he wants, cause that is what he is…..He has women friends and what is life but a bunch of friends enjoying each other….Why does Adam have to get the flack of letting the gay community down, what about us straight women who swoon over him and make his money buying his records……Adam quit being such an open book, but do you wonderful singing…….stay true to music…..and mind on it…….

  • Lovely

Excuse me to some here, but Adam never brings up the point that he is gay. He was hounded by the press when he was on Idol. He couldn't even walk down the street but to have some reporter follow him and try to bate him into saying he was gay, car chases, trapping him in an underground parking lot. When he didn't say anything he was accused of being cute, or afraid, or a sell out. Never has he started an interview with this. With Rolling Stone he said he would be open and candid and give YOU the people, the press the answer you so craved. The people and press were the ones to fixated on this, that numerous articles were written about the reporters opinions, often with no interview from Adam. So before you accuse him of throwing his sexuality out there and being a sell out, look at the facts, you have been drawn in and brainwashed by the press. This bicurious if from the interview with the RS and they only time Adam comments on his sexuality is when he is ASKED about it, he doesn't use it and bring it up himself, show me an article where he starts this. YOU CAN"T. Adam clarified on Oprah that he wonders why the press would start out their articles as "Adam, the openly gay singer…" and how much the bothered and saddend him, Oprah said that it was happening less and less. It is just you calling him out on it that keeps this ridiculousness alive. Adam does not play this game, it is YOU , the press, the detractors that choose to keep this alive. He cannot escape this always being thrown in his face! The photo shoot was a laugh back at this, if you read anything about Adam and his thoughts and reasons. So quit blaming him for something that your homophobic country just can't let go. As Hugh Jackman said, only in America is being gay made such a big deal about, no one can seem to just let it go and then it gets twisted around that it is the person who is gay at fault. Strange ,sad and true.

Adam said he was a virgin until he was 21. So it is very possible for him to be gay and curious about women. He obviously missed the early years of experimentation, so I can see with all the attention from women why he might be somewhat interested. He has every right to be curious and the gays should stop with the sell-out foolishness. I'm pretty sure there are some gay men who have been with women before so stop acting like this has never happened. He is a wonderful singer with a beautiful soul so let him do whatever he wants. That curiousity is not going to go away just because you try to shame him into not having it. The hetro photo shoot was not stupid, it was beautiful. Many male models who are gay have photo shoots with women. It is called modeling. It is make believe. Are you suggesting that they should not get these jobs if they are gay? What about gay actors who play staight roles, should they be stopped from getting those roles? Or is Adam's life and career the only one that you get to dictate? It is Adam's life and his career. He gets to decide what he wants to do with it. Period.

I don't really care about his sexuality, think it is his business and his alone, don't want to analyze him in that department. He is a fabulously talented vocalist, just hope he keeps singing. If he is bi-curious, well than lucky girl that he decides to be with, or lucky guy if he is just gay.

  • sammie

Oh Roberta I love you! As a straight woman I have always believed in gay rights. I admit that I do not get involve in the politics of gay rights, just know that in my heart it is the right thing. Adam Lambert has been the first singer gay or straight that I have followed in his new found career. Since he gets mentioned in a lot of gay blogs I have found myself reading them and learning a lot. My hat goes off to the gay women and a hand full of gay men who have supported and stayed with Adam, It is always the women who are the champion and the ones who make the difference, but as for the majority of the gay men they have done nothing but bashed him at every chance they get while at the same time lusting after straight men. I don't know what to say other than I am confused now on my support for gay rights now after I have seen the tearing down of this wonderful man. I foolishly thought that Adam whether you like his music or not would get support from his own community. My thinking has been for every person that kicks the door open it makes it easier for the next person. All I know is that I will always support him even if the media starts to tear him down. So sad.

Bless you. You sound like a rational person.

  • riannagray

People, whatever…..who, where, when and how he has a relationship……so what! Why do people even care? It's the man's voice that is out of this world, let's talk about that! He is a natural born entertainer and so comfortable on the stage, we can talk about that too! When he is going on tour and where and what it will be like, how about talking about that? Geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jacki

Wow!! Could everyone give it a rest already?! We love Adam for who he is – a wonderfully talented, honest person with an absolutely phenomenal voice!!! Let Adam be Adam and let's just enjoy where his journey takes him.

  • acb

I think some should take a deep breath and let Adam speak for Adam. For anyone to decide he is making things up for PR you would be calling him a liar. Do you really think that you know what he feels better than he does? And why do you think that? Are you a friend, a confidant, a former lover, a relative? I didn't think so. Let the man sing and respond anyway that he feels appropriate and stop trying to act as if you are somehow hurt if he doesn't say what you want him to say. If he says there is absolutely so way that he will ever sleep with a woman, his female fan will still be his female fans. No PR nesecessary for his fans. They love him just the way he is.

  • Lisa

    @Lovely

Read The Times UK article. The interviewer never asked Adam whether he wants to have sex with women or not. Adam was asked about his female fans and he spontaneously started talking about possible sex with women. Does he think that all of his fans are horny women who are fantasizing about sex with him?? I think the fact that he likes to bring up "bi-curious" thing over and over and over shows he, and his PR team, are convinced that he needs to express SOME interest in the opposite sex in order to keep his female fans interested in him. And I'm sure that he did "heterosexual" photoshoot as a fantasy fulfillment thing for his female fans. Sadly, he’s proving that sexuality still matters–a lot–and that heterosexuality matters most of all, because its mass-marketable.

Adam is an outstanding singer and a very nice guy.
Whatever he feels , does thinks is his business, so get your own life and live it and shut up about Adam's sexuality.
I wish he, himself, would just say it's all been discussed, let's move on. I am a hugh fan, but I am tired of the gay talk, not only about him, about anyone.Adam needs some lessons from Neil Patrick Harris. and the sooner, the better.

  • Ianaleah

Adam has been in LA eight years-last year busy on Idol so make it seven years.
Is this an entertainmet site or a gay site?
Helen Keller said : "life is an adventure or nothing'
    Adam has a life
Adam has a lot of spectaorts
Who need to get a life.

  • SHELIA

ADAM IS A VERY GOOD LOOKING MAN IF I COULD I’D LET HIM MAKE LOVE TO ME HE IS SO HOT HE SINGS LIKE AN ANGEL AND IS A VERY NICE PERSON FORM WHAT I’VE HERD FROM HIM..HE CAN LOVE OR MAKE LOVE TO WHO EVER HE PLEASES BECAUSE HE CAN.AND THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT HIS SINGLE AS I AM.AND YES I AM A FEMALE JUST DREAMING OF FINDING SOMEONE AS SMART AND AS GOOD LOOKING AS ADAM..I’LL LOVE HIM FOREVER.JUST THE WAY HE IS A GREAT PERSON

  • guest me

Please people, let's stop with the box..why are females allowed to be all over the place with their sexuality and defined as "straight" but Adam cannot do the same. Double standard much? Adam is being himself and he likes people and affection, nothing wrong with that. He is and always will be gay even if he has sex with women…he is gay. So let's bus out of this old way of thinking and respect the Hippie!!! Free Love baby!!!! Free Love…adam continue to do your thing and muthbleep the gay community…they never liked Adam any way…whatever "on to the next".

    • Lisa

Being gay means you don't want to have a sexual/romantic relationship with women, yes. Just like being a vegan means you don't want to eat meat. What the hell is "Free Love"? You couldn't just say bisexuality. What's with the need to make things seem so edgy?

  • guest183

wow after reading all of this especially '@Lovely' i have realised i was wrong. i have been more concentrated on Adam's sexuality and even though i tried to say it was his singing, i have to admit i have more photo's than songs. so i just really dont want to judge him because he is talented and good-looking but, i don't know him and i will never know him so i should stop judging him based on what i want and stop being so self centred and concentrate on his music. i feel so ashamed, sorry.
