Grace Jones snubs Lady Gaga

Grace Jones is not flattered by anything that comes from Lady Gaga. So much, that she turned down an opportunity to do a collaboration with Gaga.

She says the reason she turned down the collaboration is because she refuses to team up with a celebrity who has been copying her style.

She said, “Yes, she did (ask about a duet), but I said no. I’d just prefer to work with someone who is more original and someone who is not copying me, actually. Well, you know, I’ve seen some things she’s worn that I’ve worn, and that does kind of piss me off. I wouldn’t go to see her.”

      Lady Gaga has stated in several (read that as MANY) occasions who and what her inspiration has been, from former stars to state of the fashion designers. YOU DON"T STEAL WHEN YOU GIVE CREDIT TO THE ORIGINAL, and that is more that I can say about 99.9 percent of current performers. Current and former artists should be flattered when a colleague has the honesty and SELF-ASSURANCE to credit them. It IS a TRIBUTE to them, not copying and certainly not falselyclaiming the style or looks or behaviour as theirs. Give credit to Lady Gaga as being honest about her influences and her tribute to them.

Gaga totally credited you as one of her inspirations and you make it sound like Rhianna and Gaga are copying you.     Lady Gaga has always praised Grace Jones as an inspiration in her work. Lady Gaga adores and loves Grace Jones. Some of her fashion pieces are INSPIRED by Grace Jones. But If Madonna, Elton John, and even someone like Annie Lennox can shower praise on Lady Gaga as they all have done recently, then I'm sure the comments that Grace Jones made are not really going to matter that much. Like Grace, Lady Gaga doesn't really care what anyone thinks about her. She has been facing adversity in her career from everyone, radio stations, the media, journalists, other celebrities, record companies, etc from the very beginning. But she has worked her ass off and now won many of these people over. She now has 7 singles (Just Dance, Pokerface, Lovegame, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone, and now Alejandro) that are huge hits not just in the U.S., but all over the world and she's only been out for 2 years!!! She's sold millions and has a sold out live tour playing in arenas, not little dance clubs. Her success speaks for itself and sorry haters, shes JUST GETTING STARTED.

    I agree with most comments here. I had no idea who Grace Jones was or who MIA was until I saw their bitching over GaGa on some news and websites. Seriously, GaGa has stated that she has found inspiration on a lot of artists and gives them the credit, and I totally lost any respect for Aguilera after the comments she made. She may have a big voice and an incredible vocal range but she threw a childish tantrum over something that was already invented (I remember Gwen Stefani was one of the first artists to use that platinum blonde hairstyle, and if you wanna go back there's Marilyn Monroe). In Mexico we don't know who MIA or Grace Jones is, but Grace should take this as a compliment and go make that duo, so people of the new generation can get to know Grace and her flamboyant way of dressing, I think it would be great to have both artist on a stage.

    I hope some artist grow up and stop doing childish scenes of jealousy and pride over GaGa. The girl has style, she did things that no other artists did before, and I'm sure Lady GaGa has already a foot in history and will be remembered, she is not ripping anyone off, she is just taking the best things she saw and putting them together and being herself, something that other artists should do.

    Grace Jones doesn't want her music to make her famous, if she did then she would have been bigger than Gaga. She wants people to know her for her attitude and way of thinking.

    And as for people calling her a man, umm idiots if you did your research you would know she was famous for her androgyny.

    Grace Jones is known for doing things her way, she was the way she is way before Warhol and Goude because she is a genius. And as for the people saying she was a nobody, you weren't part of her generation so if you listened to other things besides mainstream music of her time you would know she was big in the party scene and in her Studio 54 days. She was also big in fashion as well as film.

    And yes I know Gaga is inspired by Grace Jones but she takes her inspiration too far and imitates her. I mean wouldn't you be annoyed if someone wore the same exact outfit as you after you rocked it several times. I know I would be and you would too.
    That is why Grace Jones is pissed and I totally understand. From day one I noticed that Gaga was imitating Grace on several occasions, but she did have her own separate style on other occasions.It still doesn't compensate for stealing, however, and thats why she's calling her out.

All you need is sheer luck and an image that is easily marketable. I love Gaga fans are defending her by playing the “well she has sold way more records in one year than that old hag ever did in her life” card. Silly, don’t you know talent and success is NOT measured in sales? Because by your logic, Nickelback is better than most bands out there, since they’ve sold more albums and have way more recognizable radio hits. And we all know how much they suck.
