Prefix mag calls out Jay Reatard

In a list of worst album covers of 2009, Prefix magazine called out Jay Reatard’s “Watch Me Fall”. Then, we watched him fall. The guy passed away earlier today at the age of 29. Bad timing?

Prefix said:

By now, most of us are accustomed to the sight of Jay “Reatard” Lindsey in various states of undress. He appeared barely clothed and drenched in fake blood on the cover of 2006′s Blood Visions. He lay semi-nude in a tub full of 45s for Matador Singles ’08. He’s got his clothes back on for Watch Me Fall, but somehow this one’s the creepiest. That pale skin, the spooky trees and smoke in the background, that crotchety, Slanketed glare. No wonder the band quit.

His record label, Goner Records, posted this:

“It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our good friend Jay Reatard. Jay died in his sleep last night.”

He may have been a douche, but now he’s a dead douche. Have some respect.

Uh, the article was published the day before the reports of his death, and was written in November. Just sayin’.

Fuck you for saying he was a douche, he never knew him… he was an extremely friendly and approachable person, if he was an asshole to you its because you are a shitty person
