Taylor Swift sucks in ‘Valentine’s Day’

Taylor Swift better stick to music singing getting interrupted on stage, because from what I’ve heard, she really sucks in her new flick, “Valentine’s Day”. And no, I don’t feel bad for saying that. She won a couple of Grammy awards that she didn’t deserve and her acting chops obviously need to be polished.

According to Yahoo Movies:

“Some teen viewers may be drawn by the lure of the two Taylors, but their time onscreen together arguably reps the film’s low point,” writes Variety’s Todd McCarthy regarding Swift’s performance alongside onetime boyfriend Taylor Lautner. “Swift, especially, seems entirely undirected, as she jumps around, makes faces and jabbers on inanely. If she’s to have a film career, she needs to find a skilled director to tamp her down and channel her obviously abundant energy.”

The Observer film critic, Rex Reed, is even more dismissive of Swift’s “Valentine’s Day” performance than he is of the movie itself: “This labored artifice strings together an ‘all-star cast’ (by today’s dubious definition, anyway),” Reed writes in his review of the Garry Marshall-directed movie, “that runs the gamut from tone-deaf Flavor of the Moment Taylor Swift and movie werewolf Taylor Lautner to veteran Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine.”

Even OK! Magazine, which spills endless ink charting Swift’s every move, goes for the blond starlet’s jugular. OK!’s movie critic, Mary Beth Quirk, dismisses Taylor as “not an actress,” adding that Swift proves such a criticism by putting in a “regrettable” performance. “The movie isn’t awful, and nor is it an award winner,” the OK! critic declares, “unless you count Swift’s frontrunner status to add a worst supporting actress Razzie to her shelf full of Grammys.” Ouch.

Squinty can’t act, she’s got to have her faults. She should win a Razzie and I’ll be the first to nominate her.

    Yno the director wrote the role for Taylor. And who cares if her acting needs to be polished, she's a singer NOT an actress. So if you have a problem with her being in the film, maybe you should start complaining about the director and not her.

    Wow! You spend your time hating on a fluffy 10-min. cameo written into the movie just to get Taylor & Taylor into the film? Did you not notice the good reviews that say Swift almost steals the show? Or the LA Times saying the Tay-Tay presence is attracting young women at a rate that may result (despite pans from critics) in the movie setting the biggest rom-com opening weekend attendance figure in history? Maybe YOU should go — you might figure out how this movie biz works and be able to become a REAL CRITIC when you grow up.

    Lol @ Taylor Supporters. If you read who the original reviews came from, they are from published and well respected journalists (save for OK!) who have experience in reviewing films.

    Will I take their opinion of the film over your defenses of Taylor? Of course!

    So she can’t act! It’s cool man. The director flopped with this film and Taylor was a blemish on it.

    Anywho, I’m happy. I don’t have to waste 15.00 to see a cheap knock off version of “Valentines Day” anymore :D

    It's true though. This movie is a huge flop. Taylor Swift was probably the worst actor in the movie. I already saw an advanced screening. Lautner is okay with the material he is given, but Taylor Swift clearly doesn't know the word acting and just rambles non-stop throughout her parts. It's as if someone said ACTION, and she just starts talking and moving around nonsensically.

    She should stick to her country-pop music because she clearly cannot act and you tweenie fans should see for yourself how horrendous she was.

    Taylor Swift was terrible on SNL, terrible in every performance I've ever seen of hers and my niece dragged me to see her LIVE, I am not surprised to hear that she is terrible in a movie. Why can't the 14 year old kids have seperate awards and movies and stop trying to infiltrate real pop culture? Go text on the cell phone mommy and daddy pays for you, or use your allowance elsewhere.

Sure, I felt sorry for her when Kanye West interrupted her moment at the VMAs, but afterward, I thought, Ya know, he's right.

    Taylor suuuuuucks. Her awards are the result of $$$$$ coming from a teen audience. She never, I repeat never sings in tune. She is not country, never has been and never will be. Compare her early live performances with those of recent and she sucks from then until now. Her Grammy performance is just a continuation of all her live performances, bad. Her voice is that of 13 year old and people are tired of all the lyrics about being a young girl. Her "Gosh I'm so surprised I received this award" act is just that, an act that is over. She does not deserve the accolades she receives. Sure her record label defends her, she is their gravy train. Two years from now we will not be having this discussion. She will be buried at the bottom of a pile of very good singers.

    I find it interesting that there is all this extreme pro and anti Taylor Swift acting. I actually am a fan of her music, but I am not a country ,music lover. I saw a clip of her part in the trailer, and yes form that it didn't look like she was a born actress. But I think the idea of having both the Taylors in the movie is fun. I am excited to watch the movie and see for myself how she does, after hearing all this controversy.

    I am officially Taylor Swift's hugest fan. I DON'T CARE what other people say!! Taylor is really nice and always thinks about other people. I really like how she is not one of those celebrities who think that they're all awesome and beautiful and everything. She actually acts like a real genuine person!

    I love EVERYTHING about her. She wrote "Love Story" in 20 minutes, one of my favorites! Also, she wrote "Our Song" for her ninth grade talent show, and it was the first one of her songs to go #1 on Billboard! One of the biggest things that I totally LOVE about her besides being caring and generous is her sense of humor. I think being funny is really important. If you watch her "on the set of the music video" videos, you'll laugh out loud! They are HILARIOUS! No matter what people say about her live performances, I will always think that they are absolutely AMAZING. I especially love the costume changes like in "Love Story" and the extra unexpected effects, like being rained on in "Should've Said No". I also love when two people rip off her costume and there's another one underneath, like in "You Belong With Me" and "Should've Said No". Besides, no matter how off-key people say she is, 1) that's what it sounds like when you have a microphone, and 2) I bet that those haters couldn't sing anywhere near as good as her. Her songs are ones that people can relate to. They make people feel good because they know that they are not the only ones going through something.

    And she is one of the only people who has fans of all ages, because she is totally appropriate and her songs are totally amazing. A lot of my middle school classmates AND TEACHERS like her because they can actually hear what she is saying in the song, unlike other ones. So try listening to her songs. You might actually find yourself to be a big fan like me!

    i saw that movie and omg her acting was HORRIBLE !! I love Taylor's music and think she is really talented as a songwriter (singing not so much) but omg she needs some serious acting lessons. Everytime she is on screen (all of 10 min), I cringe because it was so painful to watch her even attempt to "act". It was like a car wreck, you can't help but look … shudder
