Boy George is making a comeback

by on January 25, 2011 | Comments Off

Culture Club singer Boy George has been labeled singer-songwriter, DJ, fashion designer and photographer, but he’ll always be the one who introduced me to good old fashioned Reggae back in the 1980′s.

Culture Club’s debut album, Kissing To Be Clever, was released in 1982, included hits such as I’ll Tumble 4 Ya, Do You Really Want To Hurt Me and Time (Clock Of The Heart). With this album, they rose to international fame and became a household name. My favorite song from this particular album is I’m Afraid Of Me:

Boy George has also done some solo work, after parting ways with the band. In addition to that, every fan also needs an autographed photo of their favorite singer. Picture discs are that special, one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia that is important to serious music collectors, such as myself. DVDs are also a good way for all of us fans to remember the good days, watching Karma Chameleon and for some of us, trying to emulate George’s immaculate makeup and fashion sense.

Most recently, George has collaborated with producer and guitarist, Mark Ronson on his latest album, Record Collection. George provides the vocals for Somebody To Love Me, along with Miike Snow frontman Andrew Wyatt. The song is reminiscent of George’s earlier Reggae-infused music and style. Fans across the globe will agree, George really revolutionized the way music is today. In most of today’s pop and dance hits, you can hear a hint of his musical style. If you are an eighties music buff like me, then eBay has already been your destination for kinds of memorabilia. You can get Boy George CDs there, because it’s the cheapest way to get those hard to get items. Also, you can get rare items and autographed memorabilia. For the uber fan, you can go retro and pick up some Boy George 45rpm records. Personally, my favorite thing to collect are the magazine back issues that feature George and Culture Club on the covers.
