On last week’s season premiere episode of Castle, we’ve learned that Kate told Rick that she didn’t remember anything about the shooting. At the end, she was talking to her therapist and told him that she remembered everything. So that means she knows how Rick feels about her! In case you’ve missed the season four premiere episode, check out our official recap.
From ABC’s official synopsis of tonight’s show:
When an ex-con is mysteriously slain in an alley, Castle and Beckett believe a vigilante is behind the murder. But efforts to identify their suspect are thwarted when they discover that he roams the city in a Superhero costume — and may indeed be a Superhero. Can they capture and unmask the killer before he strikes again?
Stay tuned as we recap the show as we watch it with you LIVE!
A mystery man stops a rape in progress and slices off the guy’s hand. Rick is talking to his mother and Alexis is saying that she’s leaving for Stanford in January. Rick is talking to Kate about him not being ready for his daughter to leave for college.
Apparently the guy was split down the middle with that sword. After taking off the guy’s hand, he sliced him in two. The girl he was raping talked to the police and said that she didn’t get to see the killer’s face. Is she hiding the identity of the killer because he saved her life?
The victim’s mother doesn’t seem fazed by her son’s murder. She said her son, Tyler was a no good loser. He was a criminal dirt bag with a long rap sheet. Rick and Kate are talking to Tony the Butcher, and he fired Tyler. He didn’t know that Tyler was dead. He said it was a nutjob vigilante who attacked him before. The killer cut him on the butt with his sword. His warehouse has cameras and they’ve got him on video. They are all watching the video and it shows that the killer is a super hero.
Kate is telling Captain Gates that they are looking for their masked vigilante. The girl who was almost raped said she didn’t give them info because she thought they wouldn’t believe her. Rick says the killer isn’t crazy. He’s using comic book mythology and says that there is a subculture of people like this.
Rick is telling Ryan, Esposito and Kate about the vigilante. He gets interrupted by the Captain. He said that the belt worn by the killer is a collector’s belt, which means he collects comics. At the comic book store, they run into a fan of Rick’s. They’re looking for early collectors of Iron Man stuff. The cashier said that he recognized the killer, it’s Lone Vengeance. Rick recognized the knuckle buttons from the costume.
Esposito said that he has a lead on a guy who just purchased a samurai sword. Meanwhile, Rick and Kate went back to the scene of the crime and found the knuckle button from the costume. The vigilante knocked it out of her hand, snatched it and took off. Kate took a call from Esposito and told her that the guy’s name is Chad Hotney. They go to the guy’s house and he’s in full costume and swinging a sword. They hauled him down to the station and the Captain said she’s looking for a confession.
They are questioning the guy dressed up as Vengeance. He denies being the killer and said he was the Red Maroon. He sought Lone Vengeance’s counsel, but was told to leave him alone. He said LV frequents lower Manhattan. He wants to be the guy’s partner. Kate tells the guys to get a list of the people who have downloaded the Lone Vengeance comic.
Alexis tells her dad that he should be happy for her. She tells him about the classes she’ll be taking at Stanford. She’s taking the same classes as her boyfriend and Rick tells her to follow her dreams.
He goes to Kate’s house and interrupts her yoga exercises. Rick tells her that the comics are emulating the real life events. The comic featuring Lone Vengeance carved the L into the guy’s butt and afterward, the comic came out. They say the writer of the comic is their killer.
The writer is making comics out of real life events. They are questioning the victim’s mother about his comic book connection. His mother says her son knew who the Lone Vengeance is, a crime reporter by the name of Paul Whitaker.
The reporter has a burner cell phone who was getting tipped off by the murder victim. He threatened to expose the guy’s identity. Paul Whitaker just maxed out his ATM card and is selling off his collection of comics.
They brought Paul down to the station and the Captain told her to try to get a confession this time. Kate is offering to place him in segregated housing if he confesses. He admitted to them that he’s Lone Vengeance and he killed Tyler Ferris. Rick is asking Paul about how he felt when he killed Tyler. Kate asked him about why he chopped off Tyler’s hand “after” he killed him. He didn’t know that the hand was chopped off before he was sliced in half. Paul is not the killer. He said that Paul and the killer know each other.
Rick and Kate are in an old house which has a bunch of hidden swords. Esposito calls Kate and tells her that the guy is on the fire escape. The killer comes in and Kate tells him to take off his mask. It turns out to be Officer Hastings….a woman!
Some junkie shot her father over $80.00 and she feels better. Paul is in love with Ann Hastings and that’s why he confessed. She said that she didn’t kill Tyler Ferris and she said she took the knuckle button from Kate. Ann said that the killer knew that Tyler always left the bar with a girl. So they have an imposter.
Rick and Kate are questioning Tony the Butcher again. He said he doesn’t have a motive for murder. He’s laughing at their questioning and telling them that they have no proof. Kate said they have the button and the print matches his cousin Ernesto, who will admit to making a Lone Vengeance costume for him. The Captain doesn’t want the word to get out that the Lone Vengeance was one of their own. Ann Hastings and Paul Whitaker love each other.
Alexis is taking her own classes, instead of copying Ashley’s schedule. She tells her dad that they are planning on moving in together.
