As we’ve learned on July 25th, Gene Simmons and his girlfriend of 28 years, Shannon Tweed, are engaged to be married. Well, they’ve dispelled any disbelief that their engagement was real, by releasing their official wedding invitations.

It will be the wedding of rock royalty as Shannon says “I do” to Gene. FINALLY!

The KISS bassist is 61-years-old, while Shannon is 54, but they have finally overcome their differences to take the plunge. The event will go down in Beverly Hills on October 1, 2011.

The invitations are adorable, too. The invitation says that “Classy cocktail attire is requested, although we know some rockstar attire will be worn.”

It goes on to say:

After 28 years of loose strings
Our parents have finally decided to tie the knot
Our Mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name
and our Father’s life well…..it doesn’t change that much

But we will be united as a Family in title and spirit forever
There will no longer be a Team Tweed or a Team Simmons
but instead a Team Tweed-Simmons
and as annoyingly long as that is, We hope you’re on it.

After 28 years, it’s about time he made an honest woman out of her. After the proposal aired on their reality show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Shannon commented that there was actually a slim chance that they would make it to the altar. Congratulations to them!
