J.R. Martinez Comments On His Dancing With The Stars Halloween Performance

On last night’s Halloween episode of Dancing With The Stars, J.R. Martinez was not the top of the heap when it came down to the scores. Usually, he pulls an awesome performance, but last night, he scored a total of 25 points out of a possible 30, for his Tango.

After last night’s performance, he said, “We’re all going to have a bad week. If America pulls us through, I’m going to bust my ass this coming week and I’m going to come back strong.”

He went on to say, “It’s week seven. I think every season when you get to this timeframe, you see everyone’s injuries and you start to see other things, but [these are the weeks] where champions are made, so let’s see who steps up and see who is able to enter the mental and physical pain and make it through.”

He added that he’s not going to get discouraged by the criticism from the judges. He said, “It did kind of hurt in a way because of how much work you put in. But, at the same time, it motivates me.”

I think either the producers or judges (whoever really pulls the strings) purposely gave JR a raw deal to set him back because they want someone else to win.  He had no real costume, and a terrible disadvantage trying to dance a Tango to “Ghost Busters”.  No one could have looked good under the cicumstances.  Other peolpe had flashy costumes and dances to music that allowed them to be entertaining,  look good, and perform well. Maybe someone was too upset about the People magazine featuring JR’s story.  I felt so bad for him. I think he’s consistently the best dancer and an incredible person.
