James Durbin Performs With Judas Priest On 'American Idol' (Video)

Metal rocker and fourth place contestant on American Idol, James Durbin took the stage for last night’s finale with Judas Priest!

The rocker belted out two Priest classics, Living After Midnight and Breaking The Law. WATCH:


He really rocked the stage! Good for him. He said that he’s on a mission to bring heavy metal back to the younger audiences. We here at Earsucker headquarters, are right behind him as he accomplishes this goal.

We hope he comes out with an awesome heavy metal debut album and outsells all of them ala Chris Daughtry!

Who do you think will do better on the charts? James Durbin or Pia Toscano? We have to ask!

    well truthfully i have mixed feelings about it. i do like the fact that he wants to bring metal back. i always love to see Priest. the condundrum i have is that ….its IDOL. i know the basic idea of capitalism and stuff like that. they are doing their “retirement” tour and it is good promotional use of IDOL….but its IDOL. i never really like the idea of a show doing a popularity contest like in highschool you get your friends to vote for ya over and over again much like some online sites that post pics and you vote for to win virtual prizes. where has the actual hard work to getting to the top gone to? the actual “GARAGE” bands that traval getting any gig they could get and get paid in beer and pizza just to get their name out there. living in a van…(DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!!”). i guess those days are in the undergroud now….just get on a show that milks the public and turns everyone into sheep. i may be wrong…..but that’s just my opinion…(that last quote is trademarked by Dennis Miller had to say that or i would possibly get sued)

    Yes James please bring classic metal & hard rock back! I am sick of how much mainstream music has descended into mediocracy! But to make this work here’s what you must do: forget about Interscope and go over to Roadrunner Records instead. You already have 2 contacts signed with them: Zakk Wylde & Mike Portnoy. Don’t let Jimmy Iovine tempt you, he wants to drive you into HAC and that’s not you!

    As for Pia, I reckon that Haley will do better than her as Haley’s voice is quite distinctive and she has more stage presence than Pia, all Pia really did was stand, stretch her arms & belt.
