James Durbin's Shocking 'American Idol' Elimination (Video)

Tears ran down the face of James Durbin as he made his American Idol exit performance of Paul McCartney’s song, Maybe I’m Amazed. Ryan Seacrest announced that Lauren Alania was safe first last night, leaving all of the viewers thinking that Haley Reinhart to be eliminated.

We were under the impression that James would be safe, considering that he has a whole lot of talent. Most of our audience polled came to the conclusion that Haley should’ve left last night due to her attitude. So when she was announced as the second person safe, all bets were off.

Then, as the night progressed, we had to ponder who exactly could be sent home out of the guys. Both James and Scotty McCreery gave pretty excellent performances last night, so we had to think that the rumors of “no one” being eliminated were true.

When it was announced that Scotty McCreery was going to be part of the top three in the singing competition, a collective shock swept across the nation. He performed well and cried during his final song.

    Is not fear, james durbin was the best he has to win i am from Ecuador and I dont understand the amercan voting. It was not fear the jacob elimination as well. James is an original star and someone has to give him a chance.

    Be frankly, his voice was annoying, and I was glad that he was eliminated, I think it happened far tooooo late, he should have been gone before Pia.

    You are so right. James was a once in a lifetime performer that I will pay to go see in the future. Halley needs to go.  This is not a contest anymore but how many people multiple vote.  If we ever needed a James it is now.

    I was truly shocked when James was eliminated.  Part of being the “American Idol” is the ability to PERFORM.  While Lauren has a great voice, her youth and lack of confidence shows through more often then not, Haley has terrible attitude, and Scotty – well, I love Scotty too and he’ll do awesome even if he doesn’t win Idol.  But James can PERFORM and I will PAY to see in in concert,  Hey – Mr Tyler – do I hear “back up band for Aerosmith maybe?”  Hell – I’d go see James as a headliner!

    James was the whole package.  Not only that, but America must be blind to real talent and ‘soul.’    It isn’t all about the ‘pretty teeth”, people.  Having not missed one show of the season, I won’t be watching the rest.   It’s just eeny meeny minee mo now.     The real American Idol has ‘left the building’.     For now.  Rock on James.

    I’m still hoping it was all a joke and that he’s gonna be back on next week. They let him do the parade and everything even though he was eliminated. They’ve brought people back before and I”m gonna cross my fingers and hope they come to their senses. Who cares if the show is one week longer maybe they’ll make more money off of it.

    James, Adam Lambert didn’t win either and he has an amazing CD out and I cannot wait to buy your CD! You have an amazing gift your voice, your personality, your style and you have rocked my world this year on AI and I wouldn’t even know that you have a disability which you have gained even more of my respect overcoming it and raising a family too. Keep rocking on and stay positive because some people have it and some people don’t and you my friend definitely have it.
