NBC Lands Unpaid Casey Anthony Interview?

Remember when Casey Anthony was first turned loose after being acquitted of murdering her two-year-old daughter, Caylee? The networks were really scrambling to get Casey’s side of the story in an exclusive interview. The only problem that the public had with her giving an interview was the fact that she could’ve been made a very rich woman from the process and that didn’t sit well with us.
Now, we’ve learned that NBC might’ve been sly in their method of attaining Casey’s first post-jail interview — and it involves a book deal. TMZ reports:
We’ve learned an NBC news producer has reached out to people in the literary world, trying to score a book deal for Anthony. The producer has contacted literary agents and others, telling them if he scored a book deal for Casey, she’d give the network a 1-hour, primetime special … portions of which would also run on “Today.”
The producer makes it clear — NBC couldn’t pay a cent for the interview. But he is gung-ho about the book deal, even representing that Casey wants up front money.
What could she possibly say that would redeem herself in the eyes of the public and/or media? Nothing, as far as we’re concerned. It pains us to think that she’s making money, even though not directly from the network.
