Robert Pattinson explains Bel Ami delay

Robert Pattinson will draw fans to theaters because of his role as vampire Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. The only problem is that it’s causing a bit of trouble for his newest movie, Bel Ami.

You see, in Bel Ami, Rob plays a womanizer who sleeps his way up the social ladder. And since Edward is such a sparkly vampire nice guy, Bel Ami’s executives are worried that he will alienate his current fan base of Twi-hards.

In a recent interview, Rob said, “We were really true to the book and because the guy is basically a sh*t who wins everything at the end, it’s really difficult to market it — especially with me in it. Everyone’s worried that everyone’s going to be thinking, ‘Oh I want him to be nice, he’s got to be nice to all the ladies.’”

I’m not. I’m tired of seeing him play some sparkling vampire twit. I want to see him break out of his shell, because Edward isn’t doing anything for me. Try again, Sparklepants.

I like the character of Edward the way hes ment to be in the book theyve really messed up the films.in BD hes really nasty afew times and the way things are going I have afeeling they will concentrate on that.
I dont know enough about it Im not American , but comments Ive read are Americans dont encourage more sexual films and it will only have a European market.
I wish he had a better team to advise him, but I agree will be good to see him getting away from Edward, Twilight could of been something really good but its ended up even the Twilighters hate but they ve stayed loyal

I would love to see Rob being a cad. If suits are afraid to alienate his Twi-fans, then they should show the movie in a limited release and see how it goes from there. If it does well, add more theaters. Many period movies take this route and it often works for everybody. Plus if they stayed true to the book, the movie would be rated R and that would eliminate teenagers. Rob’s adult fans will survive and I dare say will enjoy his sparkling image being tarnished.
