Russell Simmons defends Chris Brown

Chris Brown appeared on Good Morning America recently to promote his new album, F.A.M.E., but instead, all he proved was that he is the same violent self-entitled jerk that he always was. His fans will say that we should leave the Rihanna incident in the past, and we were really trying to do that. But with Chris’ recent outburst, he is making it harder and harder to do just that.

Since he tossed a chair at a window in his dressing room, ABC has decided to invite Chris back for another interview. Even worse, they have no plans to cancel his upcoming performance on Dancing With The Stars. Now, mogul Russell Simmons is adding his two cents into the mix.

In a new blog post on GlobalGrind, Russell is defending Chris. He is actually comparing Chris Brown to some Disney kids who were given “breaks”. Read on:

Chris is suffering from the same thing that almost every young star has gone through, including the Disney kids. Having lost control, some of these young artists, sometimes, do an unspeakable thing at a moment in time. And they pay the price. But, as my team and I have written repeatedly on my site GlobalGrind.com, what’s not fair is artists paying the price of the sins in their young lives for the rest of their lives. Again, and again, and again. That’s just not fair. If we insisted on that, there would be no art. There would be only shame; there would be no learning, no redemption, there would be no road for millions of fans to travel the journey of the artist to enlightenment. It would negate the very purpose of art itself which is to reconcile, through a redeeming journey, the intractable contradictions in life and society. This is something I have fought for all my life.

And, you know, Disney kids are allowed a little bit more of a break. Sometimes you have to even feel sorry for them. Not that the media didn’t continue to drive Britney Spears freakin’ crazy. Not that the media doesn’t mess with Miley Cyrus every day. Not that the media doesn’t stalk Lindsay Lohan. I’m just saying, give this man a break. I spoke to him last night for a long time and I know how good of a young man he is. He’s having the same type of struggles that all those other Disney kids have and all the other people who have instant fame…and because of that one regretful incident, no one will give him a break.

Can we stop kissing this guy’s butt already?!?? When are we going to realize that there are a ton of other artists out there who have a ton more talent than this twit?!?

Because he can’t stop breaking stuff after throwing a violent temper tantrum…it shows he hasn’t changed one bit.

I feel the same way Russell Simmons does. Chris Brown needs support not criticism. Robin Roberts set him up to do him wrong… I can’t stand media whores like her and it’s a damn shame there are so many bitter people out there that get their jollies harrassing Chris Brown. Get a life people. You don’t have nothing nice to say then look in the mirror.

Robin Roberts did not set him up, she had him pre-approve the questions! He knew what she was going to ask.

i feel the same way russel simmons does. he made a mistake and he payed for it don’t make him suffer more because that will cause more neggative actions. i hate it when people act like celebrities are so much different than everyone else. yes. they have different circumstances but they are still human beings and we made mistakes. so let him live his life and make them

ALL of them! We need to stop supporting these violent people already….it’s shameful. Ugh. You wouldn’t be defending this moron if he beat up your sister, mother or daughter…would you? Can he do NO wrong?!??

  • LEB

Right on Russell Simmons! It’s funny though because the more these second rate bloggers and writers hate on Chris the more supporter’s he gets because people now see through the media’s hate and double standards. So writer your true colors are showing and backfiring!!!

Whatever, this kid could rape kittens in the middle of Park Avenue with the President watching and all of his fans would say GO CHRIS GO!

  • Anderson Monteiro

    I agree 100%…

He only forgot to say that here we have a “black” guy, so the media try to put him in the place they think he belongs, but no, he won’t go anywere, and he won’t paint himself write to change that…

You are making this a black and white issue where it’s not. This is a violent man who brutally beat his girlfriend then came out and apologized. Afterward, he tried to make us all believe that he’d changed his ways. Then he acted violent again. Case closed. Did you hear that his publicist quit? Was this person acting like it was a black and white issue?!??

He is young….If he offends you don’t buy his album, turn when they play his song on the radio, switch when they allow to perform on tv, by your negative comments and caring and reading what is said about him ,has made him so big……I dont care what you say Chris Brown can dance…..
