RECAP:
The show kicks off with “American Idol” season eleven winner Phillip Phillips performing his hit song “Home”. Love this song!
Now, we’re welcoming the judges, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Mariah Carey. The auditions are kicking off in New York.
Nicki and Mariah are already bickering over Nicki’s hat. Meanwhile, they are interrupted by Mike, singing “We Will Rock You” with his own lyrics. He gets a no answer from three of the judges, except for Mariah.
Tenna Torres is up next and she’s a huge Mariah Carey fan. She’s singing “You’ve Got A Friend” by Carole King. She doesn’t sound bad at all. Will she get through to Hollywood? The judges loved it! She got a yes from all of the judges and she’s through! Now, we’re getting a montage of excellent singers who are obviously going through to the next round.
James Bae is up next and he wants to be the next Justin Bieber. He really sucks, singing “One Less Lonely Girl” by Justin Bieber. Ugh. NEXT! He hit on Nicki! Hahaha. Mariah suggests that he becomes a DJ, but Randy tells him DON’T SING!
Up next is Christina “Isabelle” and she’s telling the judges of how she has already lost 50 pounds from her high school days. She’s performing “Summertime” and she nailed it! She got through to Hollywood. Good for her, she definitely has a lot of talent.
Singing next is Evan Rogiero and he is a cancer survivor. Good for him. He’s performing “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. He has some talent, but his vocals do need some work. He’s definitely better with this Bon Jovi song. Keith said he likes his voice, but doesn’t know if the star factor is there. Mariah said he should decide whether or not he wants to be part of a band. Nicki said that he can touch a lot of people with his struggle, but overall he wasn’t strong enough for this competition. He got four no answers from the judges.
Randy presented a ticket to audition to Jessica Kartalis after her mother recommended her. She is now singing an original song and she’s doing decent after hitting a sour note. After Nicki said she’s not ready, but she wanted to sing something else. The judges have told her to come back next year.
Taking the stage next is Shira Gavrielov, singing “Valerie”. Nice. Not bad! She got through to Hollywood. Next up is Frankie Ford from Brooklyn, New York and sings on the train for extra money in Manhattan. He is singing “Sweet Dreams” by the Eurythmics. He is pretty good and the judges are smiling! He is getting through to the next round. We’re laughing that they’re using Frankie Goes To Hollywood for the backing music!
DAY TWO:
Benjamin Gaisey is up next after Mariah and Nicki were bickering again. He’s performing “I’ll Make Love To You” and he’s just terrible. Him and his “Thriller” outfit need to GTFO. The judges are laughing their butts off and Keith is trying to hide under the table.
Singing next is Rozanna Shindelman and her voice is sort of broken up. In addition, she’s not used to singing in front of people. It wasn’t great, so the judges didn’t let her through. Next up is a montage of some really poor performers that don’t get through to Hollywood.
Sarah Restuccio is singing next and she is taking on “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood. The judges felt that she can be a big country star. Then, she belted out Nicki’s song “Super Bass”. Holy crap, that was pretty good. She got four yes answers from the judges and off to Hollywood she goes!
Albert Chang is up next and he’s performing his rendition of “Phantom Of The Opera” and he is just terrible! Now is the time for Nicki and her British accent! Now back to normal, Angela Miller is up next, singing “Mama Knows Best” by Jessie J. She’s got hearing problems, but her singing is amazing! Will Angela end up winning the entire show?
Brett Holt is up next to sing “When I Fall In Love” by Nat King Cole. The judges said no after a dream sequence. Weird. Next up is The Turbanator…ha. He is singing “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. The judges have told him that his voice isn’t strong enough for the competition. Mariah and Randy said yes, but Keith said no, so it’s up to Nicki. She said YES!
Last up on the Idol stage is Ashlee Feliciano, singing Corinne Bailey Rae’s song, “Put Your Records On”. She has got a really talented singing voice. Good for her! She is right up there with Sarah with her talent. She is definitely one to watch!
What did you think of the auditions tonight? Who are you rooting for this season of “American Idol”??
