It’s Sudden Death on American Idol tonight and the boys have got their work cut out for them!

Up first to perform tonight is Mathenee Treco and he’s singing “Superstition”. Keith said he has a huge range, vocally and immense power as a singer. He loved the fact that Mathenee likes to entertain. Nicki said he has a strong voice, but it seemed like he was trying to please the judges. Randy said he’s got a great voice, but the song choice wasn’t right for him. Mariah said the entertainer in him is interesting. She felt a bit of a disconnect between what she expected and what he sang.

Up next is Gurpreet Singh Sarin and he’s singing “Nothing Ever Hurt Like You” by James Morrison. Keith said he really likes his voice. He didn’t think it was a great song for him. Nicki said he should’ve come back out with his guitar and he needed to draw them in. Randy said it was terrible. Mariah said she was slightly disappointed because she didn’t hear his softer voice.

Singing next is Vincent Powell, singing “Cause I Love You” by Lenny Williams. Keith said the crowd is summing it up. He came out there and just sang…he loved it. Nicki said he better work with his old soul. She said today, it was a good and sexy old-fashioned. Randy said that the show started tonight right here. He said Vincent has the whole, complete package. Mariah said all she could say is “finally”.

Up next is Nick Boddington, performing “Say Something Now” by James Morrison. Keith said he loved the tone in his voice and he’s easy to listen to. He was waiting to feel connected to him as a person. Nicki said she loved his voice, but it wasn’t a ten. Randy said he doesn’t know if it was the correct song choice for him. He never had a moment. Mariah said she heard a moment that was very nice and she enjoyed it.

Josh Holiday is coming up next and he’s doing an original song. Keith said he has a really great voice, but sometimes he wishes he would cut loose. He was waiting for that moment. Nicki said she wanted to see him stay on the piano. Randy said it was a big risk for him to do an original song. He doesn’t know if he was wow’ed by it. Mariah said she loves that he’s a singer/songwriter. It was a bold choice to sing an original song. She wanted to see him stay at the piano, as well.

David Willis is up next, singing “Fever”. Keith said toward the end, there was a moment for him. That was not the right song for him. Nicki said he got a guitar for Christmas and got up there and was having a good old time. Randy said he liked that he was a little bit different and he’s intrigued. Mariah said that she was intrigued by his back story. She has heard him go vocally a bit more, but the crowd seemed to love it.

Singing next is Bryant Tadeo and he’s performing “New York State Of Mind”. Keith said if you were there, you would’ve been on your feet. He has a beautiful voice and it was a great song for him. Nicki said she loved the last note that he did, but didn’t like anything else. Randy said he loved the beginning, but he was waiting for it to go somewhere by the end, but it never quite went there for him. Mariah said the people responded because he sounds professional, but there were a couple of moments where he got lost in there. He does have raw talent.

Up next is Burnell Taylor and he’s singing “This Time” by John Legend. Keith said he liked that performance. He said it was strikingly original that he was so connected to it. Nicki said she would pay to see him sing. She called it the best by far tonight. Randy said it was captivating and he is unique. Mariah said this was fantastic and it touched her, as well. She’s been rooting for him to stay in and excel in this competition.

Lazaro Arbos is up next, doing his rendition of “Tonight I Wanna Cry” by Keith Urban. Keith said he was flattered. He said Lazaro is a great singer, but it wasn’t a great song for him because he didn’t feel he was too comfortable with the song. Nicki said he played it safe, but in a good way. It was very truthful to him. Randy said it wasn’t the perfect song for him, but when he hit the chorus it was like no one else. He can really sing. Mariah said right before he started singing, he was welling up with tears. There is a purity and simplicity in his music and that’s one of the things she loves about him.

Singing last is Cortez Shaw, performing “Titanium” by David Guetta. Keith said they love the big notes. He loved that song and that was a really bold and brave move to tackle that song in a ballad form. Nicki said she liked him a lot tonight, it was a good song choice and it was sexy. Randy said his range surprised him today, but at the end he was shocked. Mariah said she is glad that he is still here. She loved the arrangement and what he did and he made some very good choices.
