American Idol Top 4 Recap For April 24, 2013

Tonight on FOX is an all new episode of the hit singing competition “American Idol“. On tonight’s show, the top four remaining contestants take on two separate songs to try to secure America’s votes. Have you been watching the show? If not, you can get caught up with our fully detailed recap here.

On last week’s show, America said goodbye to country singer Janelle Arthur. She was the weakest link on the show and was eliminated. The judges opted not to use their only save of the season and she was given the boot. Did America send the right contestant home? We thought so!

Left in the competition are Kree Harrison, Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb and Candice Glover. Who have you been rooting for this season?

Tonight, we will be providing our live coverage of the show as it airs from 8 to 10PM EST. As always, refresh this page often for the latest updates. In the meantime, tell us who has been getting your votes this season! Also, let us know your thoughts on whether or not the producers should replace Mariah Carey with Jennifer Lopez to finish out the season!

RECAP:

The contestants are visiting a children’s hospital in Los Angeles. Amber Holcomb is up first singing “The Power Of Love” by Celine Dion. Keith said the song was tailor made for her voice and it was an amazingly perfect song choice. He loved her range, it was crazy and effortless. Nicki said she’s up there looking like a big sexy glass of milk up there. That song was made for her. Randy said she looks like a black and white cookie. She has the most growth throughout the entire contest. She didn’t miss a beat. Mariah said she has glorious tones and the song was perfect for her. She gave flavor to a classic song.

Candice Glover is up next performing “Find Your Love” by Drake. Nicki said her voice is amazing. She wishes she would’ve stuck to the melody. She has to find her market and doesn’t want her to get lost in the old-fashioned market. Randy said the vocals are the easy part. She’s that church girl and has an amazing instrument. Every phrase doesn’t need a run and can’t always sound like she’s in church. Mariah said she took her to a place where she needed to be. She can sing anything and everything. Keith said she loved what she did with the song. She needs to find herself and she’s doing that every week.

Kree Harrison is taking the stage next to perform her rendition of “Hurts So Bad” by Little Anthony & The Imperials. Randy said she was right there in her element. She’s not just country and she can do everything. It wasn’t the best vocal he’s heard from her. Mariah said she was happy watching her perform. There were moments she was truly connected to the audience. She lost herself in the moment and the song. Keith said all four of them are exceptional and it’s coming down to performance, song choice and emotions. She has to leave nothing on the table and it was not enough. She needs to make his heart break. Nicki said that performance is not going to give her what she needs to get that seat for next week. That was not a top four worthy performance.

Angie Miller is up next taking on “Who You Are” by Jessie J. Mariah said she’s standing up in spirit. The caliber of the performance was “beyond”. It was stunning and amazing. Songwriting can give her a career with longevity. Sing an original song at the piano and be inspiring! Keith said he has confidence in her as an artist. As the song went on, she got more carefree and looser. Nicki said there’s no one that compares to her in the competition when she’s behind her piano. Randy said she made him forget it was a Jessie J. song and it was sheer perfection. It’s the best performance of the night and she is in it to win it.

Taking on Adele’s hit song “Rumor Has It” are Kree and Amber. Keith said it’s interesting watching the two of them together. Amber found a commanding stance. Kree’s voice is always so sensational. Nicki said Amber commanded the stage and almost dominated Kree. Kree needs to get back in and do a duet like her favorite divas.

Angie and Candice are doing “Stay” by Rihanna next. Randy said it was unbelievable and that is how you do a duet. It made Angie stronger. Mariah said she respects how they do things according to the song they’re singing. It was amazing!

ROUND TWO – AT&T THEME PICK:

Amber is up on stage singing “MacArthur Park” by Richard Harris. Keith said she is dominating tonight and it was an incredible performance. Nicki said she’s effervescent and she likes that she takes chances. She has come such a long way. Out of the four girls, she’s the one that she’d want to get to know. Randy said she is in it to win it. She’s hitting those crystal clear high notes is crazy. She looks amazing and she’s current. Mariah said she has an inner glow and her low notes were rich, beautiful and confident. She has star quality.

Candice is taking on Samantha Sang’s song “Emotion”. Nicki said she was grooving to the song and it didn’t feel like it was 50 years ago. She’s a superhero and she’s proud of her. Randy said yes, yes, yes! It’s a great song and she took her time with it. Mariah said the way she’s been singing from day one is beyond comprehension for most people. She has a terrible cold and still did a stellar performance. Keith said her voice is beautiful and ever song choice. No one tonight has done a bare naked bones ballad that exposed their voice. Next week, pick a song that’s going to stand out from everyone else.

Kree is on stage singing “Whiter Shade Of Pale” by Procol Harum. Randy said singing will never be her problem and she redeemed herself. She sang her face off. Mariah said she’s going to download that right now and there was no redeeming for her needed. She has no words, but feel good about what she just did because she did it. Keith said a really intimate vulnerable song separates her from the other girls. Next week, think about the song that’s going to let her come out or bring them in. Nicki said she loved that performance and she put her heart and soul into it like she normally does. That might not keep her out of the bottom two tomorrow.

To close out the show, Angie is taking on her rendition of “Cry Me A River” by Julie London. Mariah said it was classic and an elegant number. She’s been holding out on them and it was elegant. Keith said it was mystical and celestially powerful. Nicki said she came out tonight to snatch some wigs off of some heads. Tonight was her night. Randy said it was the best of the night. Angie wins the night, hands down. She’s in it to win it.
