American Idol TV Recap For April 3, 2013

Tonight on FOX is an all new episode of the hit singing competition “American Idol” and the contestants are doing rock songs. Last week saw the elimination of Devin Velez and if you’ve missed the results show, you can catch up with our fully detailed recap here. What did you think of Devin’s elimination? Did America send the right contestant home last week?

Left in the competition are Burnell Taylor, Angie Miller, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Janelle Arthur, Lazaro Arbos and Amber Holcomb. Who are you most excited to see taking on the rock genre this evening? The press release dictates that tonight’s show is all about “Classic Rock, No Ballads”! Below is an official listing for the songs that the top seven Idols will be taking on tonight:

Amber Holcomb – “What About Love” by Heart
Burnell Taylor – “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi
Candice Glover – “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones
Angela Miller (with piano) – ”Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence featuring Paul McCoy
Lazaro Arbos – “We Are The Champions” by Queen
Janelle Arthur – “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel
Kree Harrison – TBA
Burnell Taylor & Candice Glover – “The Letter” by The Box Tops
Amber Holcomb, Janelle Arthur, & Kree Harrison will be performing, as a trio – TBA

RECAP:

Burnell Taylor – “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi
Keith – Rock N Roll isn’t his thing. He looked uncomfortable in the song.
Nicki – He was still lovable to her.
Randy – Ride the beat harder. It’s a good learning thing for him.
Mariah – She’s proud of him. He just learned the song and had fun with it.

Kree Harrison – “Piece Of My Heart” by Janis Joplin
Keith – She looked like she was struggling in the boots. She has a pinched nerve. Her voice is so good.
Nicki – That was magnificent! On the Idol app, she would give her all of her 50 votes.
Randy – He feels like the show has finally started tonight. He loved the bluesy side of her. #inittowinit
Mariah – It was possibly her favorite performance.

Janelle Arthur – “You May Be Right” by Billy Joel
Keith – He loved how she worked the stage and came out like a professional. It wasn’t the best song.
Nicki – Girls are going to love her as a best friend.
Randy – She’s real and honest and he loves her vest with the fringe. She’s the great contender.
Mariah – She loved it and it was totally relateable.

Lazaro Arbos – “We Are The Champions” by Queen
Keith – He chose something that played with his dramatics.
Nicki – It was giving her some Hispanic tease, it was crack juice. He did it justice.
Randy – He did a good job, he’s gotta give him props.
Mariah – She was concerned, but he did a good job on a song that’s an anthem.

Candice Glover – “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”
Keith – Her voice is so freaking good. Her vocal power never wanes.
Nicki – Her voice was amazing, but she fell asleep with that song.
Randy – She brought the rock – that attitude. She rocked into it.
Mariah – It was mesmerizing to watch her on the stage. Please vote for Candice!

Amber Holcomb – “What About Love” by Heart
Keith – Great song choice. The key change was killer — it was really great.
Nicki – It was something that pulled her in emotionally. It was striking.
Randy – She looks and sounds amazing. It was a great song choice and she found herself in it.
Mariah – She loves seeing her grow as an artist and America needs to get to voting!

Angie Miller – “Bring Me To Life” by Evanascence
Keith – He loves what she does in that moment.
Nicki – She stayed true to the genre and it was a perfect choice. Her voice sounded amazing.
Randy – Her voice lives in the edgy stuff. Great choice and amazing job.
Mariah – This was her. She appreciated the song and her. It was a perfect match.
