Andrew Garfield Was A Jerk To Batkid At The Oscars

Andrew Garfield plays a superhero on the big screen, but he’s definitely not one in real life. Miles Scott AKA “Batkid” was set to have a special moment at the Oscars this year, but Andrew decided not to take the stage with the five-year-old cancer survivor.

A source close to the situation said, “The academy was going to make him an official superhero during the Oscar ceremony. Andrew Garfield was going to appoint him ‘Batkid’. But, in the middle of the dress rehearsal, Garfield decided he didn’t like his lines. Garfield refused to go by the script. He came up with his own lines. The producers felt that Garfield’s [rewrites] were not appropriate. Garfield had a tantrum, he stormed off. Miles and his family, who were at the rehearsal, were devastated.”

When Andrew refused to be a presenter at the awards show, producers scrambled to find a replacement. Chris Evans was quickly tapped to replace him, but unfortunately the superhero segment was left on the cutting room floor.

There is a bit of a silver lining, though. Miles did get a free ride to go to Disneyland!

UPDATE: We have since learned that Garfield wasn’t a jerk to Batkid after all. In fact, he actually went with Miles and his family to Disneyland.
