Andrew Garfield Will No Longer Play Spider-Man

Andrew Garfield is no longer Spider-Man. Following last night’s announcement that Spider-Man is being brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was also confirmed that a new actor will take on the role of spidey.
Garfield starred in the last two Spider-Man movies, but his reboot was short lived. Marvel and Sony Pictures are now looking for a new actor who can appear in stand-alone movies and in crossovers that could place Spider-Man in the Avengers series and various other projects.
News of Andrew Garfield’s exit from the movie franchise was confirmed by The Wrap editor Linda Ge:

There is now a lot of chatter about the character of Miles Morales, who made his debut in “The Kangaroo.” There are not a ton of black actors taking on Marvel superhero roles these days, and with a black Spider-Man currently featured in comic books, there is no reason that some consideration shouldn’t be given to the possibility of a Spider-Man character of black and hispanic decent.
At this time Marvel and Sony Pictures are not discussing frontrunners for the next Spider-Man.
