Andy Griffith has passed away earlier today — making the world a much sadder place. As kids, we would watch re-runs of “The Andy Griffith Show” and later, “Matlock”. We didn’t care that Andy was in black and white, nor did we care that Matlock always figured out a way to solve a case. We watched with anticipation, usually trying to figure out cases before he did on the show.
This is why we’re sad to see Andy Griffith go. He was a true television legend and as one of the greats, he will be missed.
Andy passed away at his home in Manteo, North Carolina earlier today after being rushed to the hospital. The cause of death has yet to be announced, but we’re going to fathom a guess that it was likely heart disease. In May of 2000, Andy underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery and later, hip surgery in 2007.
It’s sad to see him go. His memories will always remain with us. Today, we’ll sit and watch some “Matlock” and even knowing the ending will be favorable, we’ll think of Andy’s contribution to television.
