Anna Paquin and her husband Stephen Moyer are featured on the cover of the latest issue of “Entertainment Weekly” and she is naked while they lay in a coffin together. Now, the actors are opening up about the seventh and final season of the hit HBO vampire show. In case you didn’t know, the seventh season begins tonight at 9PM EST.
With regard to the relationships formed from the show, Anna said, “Because it has lasted seven years and because of the relationships, not just between us but the way they all evolved as a family, it’s been extraordinary to have that experience that is completely life-changing in all of the best possible ways – and with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. We will always have this.”
SPOILER ALERT: Sookie Stackhouse and Alcide Herveaux are kicking off tonight’s season premiere with a sex scene that was directed by Stephen Moyer. Could that be any more awkward?!?
Stephen opened up to the magazine about directing the nude scene between Anna and Joe Manganiello. He said, “There are moments where I’ll be watching on a monitor [and say], ‘Oh, Joe, just move your hand up towards Anna’s breast. Good. And can you move your right thumb just a little bit towards her nipple? Great.’ And then I’ll go, ‘Babe, babe, enjoy it.’ I’m certainly talking to her as ‘babe.’ ‘Darling, go for it. Yeah, feel the nipple.'”
As far as how the show has affected them as a couple, Stephen said, “In a funny way, I feel like – without revealing too much – it’s quite interesting for us as a couple because we’ve kind of gone to places where a lot of people don’t get to. And we’re still here. And I think that’s good for us in a way.”
Anna said, “It’s not as akward as you would think. If you were to picture the perfect day at work for your spouse, would that be it? Probably not, but this is just kind of how it’s always been. So, it doesn’t feel as bizarre.”
Kristin Bauer Van Straten also opened up in a new interview with “Access Hollywood” about her search for Eric at the end of last season and what that means for her this season. She said, “Yep, and that’s paramount in Pam’s mind and as the seasons have gone, we realize how important Eric is to her and he is Titanic in her world. And at the end of last year when she chose to leave her progeny and go after him, and I went into the beginning of the season thinking, ‘What is going through Pam’s mind as she searches for him”‘ I realize that she can see a future without him. She doesn’t really have a world in which she has ever lived without him and as we move into searching for him in the beginning of the season, we explore that and we do get flashbacks that explain that even further, in dramatic and entertaining ways.”
With regard to the conversations she shared with co-star (and maker) Alexander Skarsgard, Kristin said, “Yeah, for me, I’m such an emotional person and the thought that there would ever be a day – I mean, I think two years ago, I started getting weepy about the fact that there could ever be a day in my life where I didn’t have a schedule with Alexander in it and that’s definitely hard for me and that’s so lucky because somebody cast both of us and just shoved us in a room and said, ‘He’s your maker.’ And I’m like, ‘What’s a maker?’ And you know, seven years later, I’m crying that next year at this time, I won’t be talking about Pam and Eric’s storylines and so that’s intensely lucky, but it’s also very intense for me.”
Stay tuned for the epic season premiere beginning tonight on HBO at 9PM EST. Will you be watching?
