Sixty-three year old former Governor of California and actor Arnold Shwarzenegger and his wife of twenty-five years, Maria Shriver, have announced their separation.
The former couple issued a joint statement to the press last night, according to reports. “This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together.”
They also added that they would continue parenting their four children together, Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher. They continued, “They are the light and the center of both of our lives.”
Reportedly, Maria hasn’t been happy in the relationship in a very long time. She was said to have moved out of their shared mansion in Los Angeles months ago, primarily because of Arnold’s ego and womanizing issues. In addition, Maria feels that he has ignored her for years and doesn’t appreciate her.
The news really doesn’t come as that much of a surprise considering that he had dated Maria and a former girlfriend, prior to his marriage, for an entire year.
Did you see the split coming?
