Hollywood actress Ashley Judd has filed for divorce from her husband of over ten years, Dario Franchitti. Sad news! People magazine has the scoop:
Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti are splitting after more than a decade of marriage.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” Judd, 44, and Franchitti, 39, tell PEOPLE exclusively in a statement on Tuesday.
After being engaged for about two years, the Missing star and the racecar driver tied the knot in a highly private ceremony in Scotland in 2001.
Judd’s sister, Wynonna Judd, served as maid of honor, while the groom’s brother Mario was the best man.
In December 1999, Judd became engaged to Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti, who was driving in the Champ Car World Series. Since the demise of the Champ Car World Series, Franchitti has raced in IndyCar and NASCAR. The couple married on December 12, 2001, at Skibo Castle, near Dornoch, Scotland. During their marriage, Judd and Franchitti divided their time between a home in Scotland and their farm outside Franklin, Tennessee, USA. They did not have children, with Judd telling the Sunday Mail, “It’s unconscionable to breed, with the number of children who are starving to death in impoverished countries”
Such sad news. We are wondering what went wrong… Any guesses?
