Ashton Kutcher Defends Country Music Awards Appearance

Ashton Kutcher appeared on stage at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards last Sunday, but he left many people wondering why he was invited in the first place. Wearing the outfit as pictured above, some country singers were asking whether or not Ashton was actually mocking them.

Miranda Lambert took to her Twitter account to say, “Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me? Watching it back now and I’m kinda wondering?”

Later, he responded to her message, claiming that he wasn’t mocking the genre and that he is actually a fan. Justin Moore also called Ashton a “douche” and said that he didn’t care people making a mockery of the way country music artists dress.

To that Ashton responded, “I grew up idolizing the style of the Highway Men, Hank, Merle, Patsy Cline, Dolly. Starting to wonder if new country just doesn’t get it. Justin Moore calls it mocking I call it respecting your Elders. Maybe that’s old fashioned. Know when to fold em brother.”

Ashton should know when to walk away and know when to run. Do you think he was being a mocking douchebag? Or is he really a bona fide country music fan?

I tend to believe Ashton—–if the newbie country stars are too sensitive maybe they need to examine their reasons and feelings about being country singers…..Are they country singers because the rock and rap scene wouldn’t take them?  Do they have a good knowledge of the music’s history?  Did they listen to country growing up?  Do they have pride in all things country and know how to handle themselves and not allow anyone change them to be a wishy washy version of country and perform more like a rock or rap star.  Where is the charactor of person and less of the smoke and mirrors…..
