Ashton Kutcher Quits Twitter Following Support Of Joe Paterno

Ashton Kutcher is an internet leper after tweeting support for Joe Paterno last night. It was found that Penn State’s Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky was raping young boys in the locker room. Joe Paterno knew about it and instead of calling the cops, he informed his superior, who basically covered it up.

Fast forward to last night, when Joe Paterno got the axe as Coach. Apparently that didn’t sit well with Ashton, who tweeted the above message. When you’ve got over eight million Twitter followers, you should probably take more responsibility with your opinions and commentary. Especially with something like this — the guy raped young boys in the showers!

Obviously, Ashton did not have the full story — but is ignorance any excuse when you’ve made yourself the “news source”?

For now, he’s giving up Twitter, presumably until he can manage his mouth. Here is the timeline after the above (since deleted) tweet:

Heard Joe was fired, full recant previous tweet! Didn’t have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes.

This is an insane story, I just heard paterno was fired, getting the rest of the story now… Wow.

As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case.

Honestly just had half facts man my bad. I need 2b more responsible 4 my voice.

As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again.

What do you think of the situation? Perhaps Ashton should hire a Tiger Blood intern so that he doesn’t spew stupidity like this? Thoughts?
