As we have already told you, Bruce Jenner’s interview with Diane Sawyer is set to air on April 24th at 9PM EST. According to a new report, the former Olympian is gearing up to say goodbye to the old Bruce Jenner in the two-hour special. Reportedly, he is looking at the interview as a “farewell to Bruce” and will present himself as a woman for the first time.
If you were holding out any hope that you might see Bruce Jenner dressed as a woman on camera, then don’t hold your breath. He won’t actually be in a dress or wearing makeup during the interview. Sources close to production say that the interview will mostly be about his journey along with his mental state.
Bruce Jenner will also not be revealing what his new feminine name will be on camera – nor will he dress the part. In the interview, he will address the decision to transition to a female as well as talk about his life as a man, but not feeling manly.
Bruce will chronicle his life from age 5, where he identified as a woman. Jenner — who did numerous interviews for the special over a period of time — talks about the difficulties he’s had in life living as a man but not feeling like one. He also spends significant time talking about the impact his decision to have a sex change has had on his family.
Bruce realizes he has already become a target for people who either don’t understand why he’s transitioning or those who have outright contempt for it. But he’s doing the interview to both free himself and educate the public so others in his position don’t have to go through the pain.
Our sources say some of the most compelling moments in the show — which airs on ABC on April 24th — are when Bruce talks about “mundane things” that will change in his new life — day-to-day things that will change.
Kudos to Bruce Jenner for speaking out publicly about his decision to transition from male to female. It has to be a hard subject for him to deal with considering that he is so widely known as an Olympic gold medalist. Hopefully, his ex-wife Kris Jenner and her money hungry children will be far away in Armenia while his interview airs and won’t be able to steal his thunder. He is going through something real here and should be allowed to have a voice. The Kardashians have a daily voice that is heard through social media and the tabloids – so let’s hope that they leave Bruce Jenner alone long enough so that he can get to where he needs to be in life. In other words, his family/the Kardashians need to be supportive or GTFO. That is all.
