Bruce Jenner’s transition story has made waves ever since it was announced that he wanted to be a woman. He divorced Kris Jenner and was rumored to be dating her best friend, but those rumors died out and were replaced by the transformation rumors. It was said that Bruce Jenner was filming a reality TV docu-series in which he would chronicle his transformation and an interview with Diane Sawyer is forthcoming. Adding fuel to the fire was In Touch Weekly’s cover, which showed what Bruce Jenner might look like as a woman.

Now, the former Olympian graces the cover of the latest issue of People magazine and it appears that the Kardashian and Jenner families are divided on his decision to switch genders. As he continues to transition, his children have taken sides – the cover story reads.

After Jenner told his loved ones that he is transgendered, “the whole family went through a rough patch”, adding, “It’s naturally a difficult thing to process and work through.”

“The divorce caused a divide, but Bruce’s decision to share his transition has caused an even greater divide,” a Keeping up with the Kardashians production source says of Jenner’s plans to document his journey, both in an interview with Diane Sawyer and in a docu-series that is now on hold.

After keeping his truth a secret for more than five decades – and “taking a backseat in his own life,” as the source puts it, while Kris called the shots during their marriage – the 1976 Olympic gold medalist is now going his own way for the first time in a long while.

As he continues to find his way, he has remained firm in the belief that “he wants this to be his story,” says a friend.
