RECAP:

Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough – Cha Cha Cha
Judges’ comments:
Len: That was fun; they came out and they sold it. Great start to the season
Bruno: That’s the way we do it. Very, very interesting. A little more work in the leg
Carrie Ann: They’ve impressed all three of the judges. She’s got class and sass
SCORES: 7-7-7 = 21/30

Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold – Foxtrot
Judges’ comments:
Bruno: What a wonderful combination of boyish charm and Latino passion. There’s a lot of work to do
Carrie Ann: His posture was great and open and fantastic
Len: There’s a lot of things going for him, but it was uneventful for him
SCORES: 6-6-6 = 18/30

Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson – Contemporary
Judges’ comments:
Carrie Ann: She wants to see the raw passion and she saw that. They did a great job
Len: He’s not convinced about that performance at all. Come out and show him dance!
Bruno: That was good. He thought he was watching Bradley Cooper in “Silver Linings Playbook”
SCORES: 7-6-7 = 20/30

Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Sengchenko – Foxtrot
Judges’ comments:
Len: It wasn’t exceptional and there was too much staggering about. Lift your ribcage
Bruno: She couldn’t sustain her posture, but the lines were good
Carrie Ann: The dance suited her, but she was out of sync a little bit
SCORES: 6-6-6 = 18/30

D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke – Cha Cha Cha
Judges’ comments:
Bruno: “OMG”. He has terminated the Cha Cha Cha. It’s under-rehearsed
Carrie Ann: It was “yikes”. You got to go back to work for next week. It was disjointed
Len: This was rough. He has to work his butt off. This was no good
SCORES: 4-4-4 = 12/30

Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy – Contemporary
Judges’ comments:
Carrie Ann: That was amazing, beautiful and a fantastic dancer
Len: That was great
Bruno: Superb debut on Dancing With The Stars. She is inspiring and it was wonderful choreography
SCORES: 8-8-8 = 24/30

Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd – Foxtrot
Judges’ comments:
Len: He liked it, but he didn’t like it a lot. It lacked finesse, but his posture was good
Bruno: It was like a Chippendales version of a ballroom dance. It needed refinement and finesse
Carrie Ann: He has fearless exuberance. He is going to go far
SCORES: 7-6-6 = 19/30

Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas – Cha Cha Cha
Judges’ comments:
Bruno: Very surprising and inspiring. He was impressed
Carrie Ann: She has potential, but she’s a little safe
Len: He loved the vitality that she brought to the dance, but good job
SCORES: 7-7-7 = 21/30

Dorothy Hamill and Tristan MacManus – Contemporary
Judges’ comments:
Carrie Ann: She’s already a winner in so many ways. Her performance was golden
Len: That dance was outstanding beauty. Well done
Bruno: Deeply felt, great connection with Tristan. Really, really good
SCORES: 7-7-7 = 21/30

Wynona Judd and Tony Dovolani – Cha Cha Cha
Judges’ comments:
Len: She showed personality and gave a very good performance
Bruno: She can give it plenty and give it more
Carrie Ann: She was workin’ it, but she could give it more
SCORES: 6-6-6 = 18/30

Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess – Foxtrot
Judges’ comments:
Bruno: It had a skittish charm and could’ve been smoother. It was comedic and he enjoyed it
Carrie Ann: There is something charming about him and he touched her with the dance
Len: The choreography was nice. This had the fluidity of RoboCop
SCORES: 6-5-6 = 17/30

Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff – Cha Cha Cha
Judges’ comments:
Carrie Ann: She loved it, he’s got the moves
Len: It was all icing and no cake and the technique was terrible
