Dancing With The Stars Review: Who Is The Star To Beat?

Dancing With The Stars Review: Who Is The Star To Beat?

We have all seen the season sixteen premiere episode of the hit dancing competition “Dancing With The Stars“, so we have to ask: Who is the star to beat?

Taking to the ballroom floor were twelve new celebrities along with their professional dance partners. Some of the pros were also new to the show, so there were a lot of faces that went unrecognized. Still, that doesn’t mean that they were lacking in their dancing abilities!

Here is a brief mini-recap of the competitors, their dances and scores:

Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough performed their Cha Cha Cha first and received a total of 21 points. All three of the judges enjoyed the kickoff to the season. Dancing second was Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold, who did their Foxtrot. They scored 18 points, but the judges seemed to enjoy it even though it was uneventful. Dancing third were Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson with their Contemporary dance. The judges loved it and gave them a total of 20 points. In fourth, was Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko with their Foxtrot. For their efforts, they scored 18 points and left everyone asking if he is the new Maksim Chmerkovskiy (spoiler alert: he’s not).

In fifth place on the ballroom floor were D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke with their Cha Cha Cha. They were the worst performers of the night and scored a total of 12 points. If D.L. doesn’t step it up, he may be the first to get the ax next Tuesday. Sixth to take to the ballroom floor were Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy with their Contemporary dance. The judges heaped the praise on them as well as a score of 24 points. Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd danced seventh with their Foxtrot, of which garnered them a score of 19 points.

Dancing eighth were Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas with their Cha Cha Cha. The judges seemed to like it and gave them a total of 21 points. Dorothy Hamill and the Flawless Irish Prince Tristan MacManus were up ninth on the ballroom floor, performing their Contemporary dance. The judges loved it and scored them a total of 21 points. Wynona Judd and Tony Dovolani scored 18 points with their Cha Cha Cha and the judges seemed lukewarm to their slow performance.

Taking to the ballroom floor in eleventh place were Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess with their Foxtrot. The judges found it comedic and charming, but Len was snarky with his comment that it “had the fluidity of RoboCop”. They scored 17 points for their efforts. Dancing last on Monday’s performance episode were Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff with their Cha Cha Cha. The judges were divided on this performance, but overall, thought he has great potential. For their efforts, they scored 20 points.

Who’s in trouble, possibly: D.L. Hughley, Wynona Judd and Lisa Vanderpump.

The celebrities to beat: Zendaya Coleman, Kellie Pickler and Dorothy Hamill.

Tell us in the comments below who you are rooting for to win the mirror ball trophy on this season of “Dancing With The Stars”!
