Dancing With The Stars Week 5 Live Recap For October 23, 2012

Tonight on ABC is an all new episode of the popular dance competition “Dancing With The Stars”. In case you haven’t heard, tonight’s episode is another performance show and they will not be eliminating anyone from the competition this week! In case you’ve missed last night’s performance episode of the show, you can read our full recap here.

It was quite the night, considering that we didn’t know whether or not Melissa Rycroft would be able to dance. She suffered a herniated disk following her rehearsals over the weekend and was hospitalized. We’re happy to report that she did a fine job dancing with her team. Adding to the fun was judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who fell from her chair after witnessing Gilles Marini’s sensual Rumba and commenting “Let the baby making begin!”

Stay tuned for our live recap of tonight’s performance episode of “Dancing With The Stars”. The show airs at 8PM for only one hour and we will get to see the other four celebrities take on their individual dances as well as Team Gangnam Style doing their team dance. You don’t want to miss this!

RECAP:

Kicking off the dances tonight are Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani dancing the Tango to Britney Spears’ song “Toxic”. The dance is good, we love her wig and it seems a little slow-ish for a Tango. Len said he was giving her a verbal pat on the back and he wanted her to snap a little more. Bruno said it wasn’t toxic, it was intoxicating. He said her top line could’ve been better, but he would like to see more. Carrie Ann said that the performance was fantastic. Scores: 9-9-9 = Total: 27/30

Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough are up next with their Rumba, dancing to “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion. They are really kicking it up a notch for this dance. Well done! Standing ovation from the crowd as Derek appears to float off into the ocean. Bruno said that was awesome, it was like waves in the ocean. It was like he’s never seen her before. Carrie Ann said she has grown so much and her lift was fantastic. Carrie Ann called them out for the lift… Len said it was a Dickens novel for him. He said there was no hip action, he loved the number, but it wasn’t a “number” for him. Scores: 9-8-10 = Total: 27/30

Next up are Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff are doing the Samba to Rick James’ song “Give It To Me Baby”. What a great dance! Saucy! Carrie Ann said her leg work is fantastic, but something wasn’t quite right. He said it’s good, but it’s not where he should be. Len said he thought the dance was terrific and overall he had great movement and rhythm. Bruno said they kept the fire going and it was terribly sexy and they did a really great job. Scores: 8.5-9.5-9 = Total: 27/30

Dancing last for the individual routines are Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel. They will be doing the Waltz to “So This Is Love” from the movie “Cinderella”. This dance is super cute and sweet and she looks like a total princess! Len said he loved the story, the flow of it all. He said Cinderella is definitely going to the ball. Bruno said she went for it and it was cartoon-ish and delicious. Carrie Ann said she was going for vulnerability, but she didn’t get that. It was elegance, personified and she’s in for a happy ending. Scores: 10-9.5/9.5 = Total: 29/30

Team Gangnam Style is gearing up to take to the dance floor. The guys are hot in their technicolor suits and the ladies match! Cute. It’s a fast dance, but they’re working it! Gilles threw off his suit and was dancing around in only a towel. Len said it was the craziest thing he’s ever seen and it was FUN! Bruno said for Gilles to give him the towel because he’s wetting himself. Carrie Ann said they were awesome and it was crazy, fun insanity. Scores: 9-9-9 = Total: 27/30
