Dancing With The Stars Week 7 Live Recap For November 5, 2012

Tonight on ABC is an all new episode of the hit dancing competition “Dancing With The Stars”. On tonight’s show, we will get to see the remaining couples take on fusion dances that were chosen for them last week. In case you’ve missed last week’s show, we have recapped it here for your viewing pleasure.

Here’s what’s going down for tonight:

Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani will be doing the Tango and Cha Cha, followed by Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd doing the Argentine Tango and the Samba. Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be performing a fusion of Quickstep and the Samba. Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas (possibly stepping in for Derek Hough) will be performing the Tango and a Paso Doble. Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke will be doing a combination of the Rumba and the Samba. Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy will be doing the Cha Cha and the Foxtrot and lastly, Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff will be performing a combination of the Cha Cha and the Paso Doble.

Again, there will be no elimination tonight and no results show tomorrow night due to the election. Stay tuned as we cover the show live as it airs!

RECAP:

Taking the ballroom floor first are Apolo and Karina doing their fusion of the Cha Cha and the Paso Doble. It was hot! We loved how they transitioned one style to the next. Len said that there was nothing safe about it and he attacked it. Bruno said he should be in “Twilight” and it was incredibly powerful, triumphant and wonderful. Carrie Ann said she liked the approach of the different numbers and it started off strong and it ended even stronger. Scores: 9-9-9 = 27/30

Emmitt and Cheryl up next are doing their fusion of Rumba and the Samba. The dances seemed disconnected in parts, but they were having a blast with it. Bruno said that was a smooth and balanced blend and he loved how he went into it and out of it seamlessly. Carrie Ann said his upper body was lacking, but it was a challenging dance. Len said he doesn’t think he could’ve done it as good as that. Scores: 8.5-9.5-9.5 = 27.5/30

Kirstie and Maks are taking on the Quickstep and the Samba next. It’s a good thing that there’s no elimination this week, because it might just claim Kirstie and Maks. After surviving Hurricane Sandy, we all deserve to see more of Maks. Carrie Ann said she lost herself in the second half of the dance and it was out of sync. Len said it was an admirable effort. Bruno said whatever she does is always entertaining and she turned Cinderella into a stripper. Scores: 8-8-8 = 24/30

Up next are Kelly and Val doing their fusion of Cha Cha and Foxtrot. This dance is hot and they have a lot of chemistry together. Very cute! Len said he captured the smoothness of the Foxtrot with the crispness of the Cha Cha. Bruno said their timing was good and their control was better than ever. Carrie Ann said it was a difficult routine and it was tight and sexy. Scores: 9-9-9 = 27/30

Melissa and Tony are dancing a fusion of the Tango and Cha Cha next. Super cute dance! Bruno said he thought Beyonce came out there with that transition. Carrie Ann said tonight she is a star! Len said the dances were beautifully defined and well done. Scores: 10-9.5-9.5 = 29/30

Shawn and Mark Ballas are dancing their Tango Paso Doble fusion next, as Derek Hough is still injured. It’s a great dance! Good for them, Derek would be proud. Carrie Ann said that would be the dictionary definition of dance fusion and it was perfectly matched. Len said that was a firecracker and that was fantastic. Bruno said that as fusions go, that was flawless. Scores: 10-10-10 = 30/30

Dancing last for the fusion round are Gilles and Peta doing their Argentine Tango and Samba. Sexy! Len said they were nipping around South America and gave them a fantastic Samba. Bruno said that’s how we do it the South American way. Carrie Ann said he needs to work on his arm movements, but it was a fantastic fusion. Scores: 9.5-9.5-9.5 = 28.5/30

SWING DANCE MARATHON:

The dance begins and the first couple out are Kirstie and Maks. Leaving the dance floor next are Gilles and Peta, followed by Apolo and Karina. Leaving next are Emmitt and Cheryl, followed by Shawn and Mark. Leaving next are Kelly and Val, leaving Melissa and Tony to win the round!

I loved the fusion dances, and I think most of them did amazing at intertwining the two dances. I cannot believe how amazing Shawn Johnson’s dance was! She was unbelievable and definitely deserved the perfect score she got. I felt bad she couldn’t dance with her original partner, but she definitely didn’t miss a step with her other partner. I couldn’t even tell when she switched to the other type of dancing. I have been so busy with my job DISH, that I haven’t been able to watch DWTS live in a couple weeks. I am so glad my Hopper from DISH records the primetime shows on my four major networks automatically using the PrimeTime Anytime feature; this way I don’t have to worry about setting up the recording. I love when they do the Swing Dance Marathon. I think it is so much fun watching all of them dance at the same time, because you can really see the differences between them. I really hope that Derek comes back next week, and can dance with Shawn again. As much as I like Mark, I think Derek is the perfect partner for Shawn.
