Dancing With The Stars Week 7 Review: Fusion Styled Dances

On Monday night’s performance episode of “Dancing With The Stars”, the remaining seven celebrities took to the ballroom floor to dance their fusion styled dances. On last week’s show, they were tasked with fusing two different dances together in one routine. Each competitor was assigned a fusion dance by one another.

Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff fused the Cha Cha with a Paso Doble and the results were spectacular. The judges raved about the dance and scored them a total of 27 points. Taking the ballroom floor next were Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke performing their fusion of Rumba and Samba. They looked like they were having a blast and the judges had nothing but good things to say. They scored 27.5 points total.

Dancing third were Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy with their fusion of the Quickstep and the Samba. The judges were a bit lenient with their comments and scored the duo 24 points for their efforts. Taking the ballroom floor next were Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy with their fusion of the Cha Cha and Foxtrot. These two have definite chemistry and the judges agreed, scoring them 27 points.

Fifth on the dance floor were Melissa and Tony with their fusion of the Tango and the Cha Cha. It was a delight to watch and the judges ate it up. They scored 29 points for their efforts. Next up were Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas, who was stepping in for an injured Derek Hough. They performed their fusion of Tango and the Paso Doble. Derek was a proud, proud pro as his partner scored 30 points! Kudos to them!

Last up on the floor were Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd with their fusion of the Argentine Tango and the Samba. As always, Gilles gave us a delightful dance and the judges must’ve agreed, scoring them 28.5 points for their efforts.

The Swing Dance Marathon claimed the following contestants in order: Kirstie and Maks, Gilles and Peta, Apolo and Karina, Emmitt and Cheryl, Shawn and Mark, Kelly and Val and Melissa and Tony.

Since there is no elimination this week due to the elections, we will be offering up our speculation as to whom will be getting the ax next week. Sound off DWTS fans!
